Note from the editors: We at Protectors of Equality in Government (PEG) want to tell you about meaningful ways to stay informed and active. We also want to keep things brief and engaging! Therefore, you’ll now see a traditional, in-depth newsletter during the first week of the month, followed by shorter “Ideas for Action” editions the rest of the month. Let us know what you think!

#VoteReady

Turn 2022 ballot signers into 2024 pro-choice voters!
#DYK that Chuck Newman, the founder of Protectors of Equality in Government (PEG) is also a part of the Distill Social team?
Chuck and the Distill team are determined to ensure that the hundreds of thousands of Reproductive Freedom For All ballot petition signers come out again in 2024 and vote for pro-choice candidates.
The first step is to reach out to these folks and thank them for supporting reproductive rights and we’d love it if you could join the Distill team in doing this. They will provide the postcards, names, addresses and sample message. All you will need is to use the power of your pen and purchase postcard stamps and pop them in the post. If you can help out with writing and sending 50 postcards (you can get your friends and family to help out), please click here and Distill will be in touch.
If you are not sure if this is exactly how you would like to help, but would still like to participate, Speak to Karen of Distill Social and tell her what you like to do and she will find the right volunteer fit for you with proven and meaningful things you can do to help us win in November!

Join candidates from local to national races as they share how the elected office they seek interfaces with housing issues, and what they will commit to doing on this issue if elected.
The Voters Organizing Through Engagement (VOTE) Caucus, a program within the Interfaith Council for Peace & Justice (ICPJ) endeavors to embolden our communities with information that can help them better understand the candidates, the role of the desired office, and their views on issues that impact the community directly. We selected housing given the overwhelming need expressed in our network and our belief that every elected official touches this area in some way.

ICYMI: Here’s What Happened at the Michigan Healthy Climate Conference Last Week
Both Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist and Governor Whitmer addressed the conference, noting how under their administration, Michigan has gone from being a laggard to a leader in addressing climate change. However, there’s much left to do. Authorities on disease and the job market explained the consequences of our warming earth, and advocates for environmental justice described the inequality of it all.
