Follow Trump’s ‘Catch And Kill’ election interference scheme with this visual guide

Follow the hush money payments and people involved in the election interference scheme.

“Trump has become the first former U.S. president to face a criminal trial. Manhattan prosecutors charged him last year with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, accusing Mr. Trump of covering up a sex scandal with the porn star Stormy Daniels around the 2016 presidential election.” — NY Times

“In late June of 2016, per The Fixers, Trump called David Pecker to ask whether he could bury Karen McDougal’s story. Pecker signed off on a deal to catch and kill it for $150,000, on condition that the Trump Organization would reimburse AMI… Providing something of benefit to a campaign in excess of the reporting requirements is illegal. So is covering it up to make it seem legal. Pecker did it, and so did the Trump Organization.” — Status Kuo

“Catch and Kill” hush money arrangement

“The historic indictment and statement of facts foregrounded the alleged effort to suppress information from reaching voters during the 2016 presidential election. At the center of the case is a catch and kill and “hush money” arrangement that former president Donald Trump, the head of the National Enquirer David Pecker, and the two men’s associates allegedly set up in the course of the presidential campaign to bury stories about Trump’s allegedly having had extramarital affairs (Manhattan DA Indictment Press Release).

The DA claims that in making these hush money payments, Trump violated New York state’s law prohibiting the falsification of business records and did so in furtherance of other crimes, including federal campaign finance law, state election law, and tax laws.” – Just Security
