Dear Members and Supporters,

As we continue our journey through 2024, a pivotal election year, we’re excited to share some key dates and events that underline our commitment to civic engagement and community involvement. Here’s what’s on the horizon for the Oakland County Democratic Party:

UPCOMING EVENTS

Beyond Book Banning: The Current State of Intellectual Freedom in Libraries

Date: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Time: 6:30 PM

Location: Bloomfield Township Public Library, 1099 Lone Pine Rd., Bloomfield Twp, MI 48302

Details: Join a panel representing public and school librarians who will share their perspectives on censorship featuring key speakers from our community.

Kentucky Derby Party

Date: Saturday, May 4, 2024

Time: 6 PM to 8PM

Details: An evening of food, cocktails, and fun! Enjoy the festivities while supporting OCDP’s mission.

Executive Committee Meeting – May

Date: Saturday, May 14, 2024

Time: 7 PM to 9PM

Location: OCDP Headquarters, 17100 West 12 Mile Road, Suite 5, Southfield, MI 48076

Details: An session built with networking, decisions, and information. Come join us and get engaged!!!

 Ferndale Pride Parade

When: Saturday, June 1

What: Join us at one of the year’s most vibrant events! OCDP will have a vendor table, and we’re calling for volunteers to help us spread our message of inclusion and equality. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show your support and enjoy the festivities.

Details: We need volunteers for our vendor booth.

 OCDP General Membership Picnic

When: July 21, 2024

What: A summer tradition, our general membership picnic is a time for fun, food, and fellowship. A perfect family-friendly event to connect with fellow Democrats and enjoy Michigan’s beautiful summer.

MDP Legacy Dinner

When: Saturday, June 8

What: An evening of recognition and celebration, the MDP Legacy Dinner is a must-attend for those passionate about the future of our party. Details on the speakers and program will follow – stay tuned!

Juneteenth Celebration

When: Tuesday, June 11

What: Commemorate Juneteenth with us at the OCDP Headquarters. This event promises to be a meaningful gathering, celebrating freedom and reflecting on our journey towards justice and equality for all.

Election Day

When: Tuesday, August 6

What: The day we’ve all been working towards. Remember to vote and help make a difference in our community. Let’s show up in force and advocate for the values we hold dear.

We look forward to seeing you at these events and working together to make a significant impact in our community and beyond. Your support and involvement are what make our efforts possible.

63rd Annual Phil Hart Dinner 

When: Sunday, October 13, 2024

Where: Somerset Inn in Troy

Stay engaged, stay inspired, and let’s make 2024 a year to remember!

Troy Democratic Club Events

Electric Vehicles Presentation with Jürgen Wiesenberger

Date: Thursday, April 25

Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Location: Boys and Girls Club of Troy, 3670 John R Road, Troy, MI

Description: Learn about the future of electric vehicles from industry expert Jürgen Wiesenberger. Note: This meeting may not allow time for candidate introductions.

Annual Picnic

Date: Saturday, August 10

Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Raintree Park, 3775 John R Road, Troy, MI

Description: An opportunity to gather and reconnect with fellow Democrats.

North Oakland Democratic Club Euchre Night

Location: Independence Township Senior Center, 6000 Clarkston Road

Join us for a fun evening of food, fun and prizes! Speaking of food, dinner will feature the world famous Union Mac n Cheese! To secure your spot, please send a check made out to North Oakland Democratic Club and mail to 9881 Marmora, Clarkston, MI 48348.

You can also bring cash to the next monthly meeting on April 17th at 313 Pizza Bar. Why fundraise? The North Oakland Democratic Club participates in local events such as the Clarkston 4th of July parade, donates to communities in the form of sponsorships and we table at events like Septemberfest in Ortonville. Thank you in advance for helping NODC continue to grow our club and community awareness.

Waterford Democratic Club at Peacefest 2024

Dates: Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9

Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Volunteer: Shifts are 90 minutes each. Volunteers also needed for setup on Saturday morning and shutdown at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
