Hold Arizona Republicans accountable for their abortion ban: Start with this map!

Arizona to Enforce 1864 Abortion Ban

Arizona’s Supreme Court ruled to allow the enforcement of an 1864 total abortion ban—a law that was written before women had the right to vote, and before Arizona was even a state… The Arizona Supreme Court ruled that the 160-year-old total abortion ban is enforceable… all abortions, except those necessary to save a woman’s life, are illegal.” — Jessica Valenti

Who are the Arizona Supreme Court Justices who voted to ban abortions? Which two are up for re-election in 2024? Which are the other congressional races in Arizona? How do you find out about the Arizona ballot measure to enshrine the right to an abortion in the State constitution? How can you register to vote in Arizona? Make sure you have a valid AZ voter ID? Use this interactive map created with data from DemCast and other sources.

“The ruling in Arizona also mirrors what’s happening in Florida—where a state Supreme Court decision allowing a 6‑week ban to take effect could be repealed by a pro-choice ballot measure heading to voters. An abortion rights amendment might be in front of Arizona voters this November, as well.

Arizona for Abortion Access, a coalition of reproductive rights groups, says they’ve collected enough signatures to get their measure on the ballot. (They’ve gathered more than 500,000 signatures—over 120k more signatures than they need, with months to go before their July 3 deadline.) The proposed amendment would protect abortion rights in the state constitution up until fetal ‘viability’, after which someone could end a pregnancy if their life, physical or mental health was endangered.” — Jessica Valenti
