Yesterday, Arizona became the latest state to ban abortion in nearly all circumstances when the state Supreme Court ruled in favor of reinstating a 160-year old ban.
This is exactly what the Ohio GOP wants to do in our state – despite the fact that Ohioans overwhelmingly voted in favor of enshrining reproductive rights in the state Constitution, Ohio Republicans have made it clear that they’ll stop at nothing to overturn the amendment and put politicians back in our exam rooms.
We cannot let this happen.
Our state Supreme Court currently has a 4-3 Republican majority. But with three key races this year, we have the chance to change that.
By electing Justices Michael Donnelly, Melody Stewart, and Lisa Forbes, we can ensure a majority on the state Supreme Court that will uphold the will of Ohioans and protect our rights, not tear them down.
The GOP is going to pull out all the stops to defeat our slate of justices. It’s up to us to stop them.
This week, Donald Trump once again came out in support of politicians interfering in our reproductive health care decisions. One of those politicians: Bernie Moreno, running to defeat Sherrod Brown here in Ohio.
So with all the noise at the national level, here’s what you need to know right now:
- Bernie Moreno has said he supports a national ban on abortion that would overturn the will of Ohioans, “with no exceptions.”
- He even dumped $100,000 of his own personal fortune into the effort to defeat Issue 1, which enshrined reproductive rights into the Ohio constitution.
- Control of the Senate runs right through this seat.
