Letter from the Chair
Dear Democrats and friends,
Welcome to Spring, and spring snow!
The Roosevelt-Kennedy Gala is less than three weeks away, and Day Match Donor
days start on April 6th ! Thank you to our Day Match Donors who put up $1,000 and are inviting everyone they know to donate the Coconino County Democratic Party on their day. Please choose a friend, or a day, from the list below and give what you can to fund our work to elect more Democrats and swing Arizona Blue this year.
The Coordinated Campaign is renting an office in Flagstaff. We’ll be working closely with
them to get out the vote for the whole ticket. Our office is expanding to include Jasmine
Jewell and Kate Hanley, who work with Arizona List. They’ll be coordinating with our
Arizona for Abortion Access Hub to grow our capacity to gather and notarize petitions
before the July 3 deadline. Welcome!
Thanks to all the PCs who brought in their nominating petitions. I loved walking into the
new Elections Center with an armload of commitment. Some of us, including me, waited
for the write-in option. That’s now! Bring your write-in application to the office, or fill one
out in person, by April 12 so we can get them turned in.
120 days until the Primary.
6 months and 5 days until the General Election.
Let’s do everything we can, every day, so our Election Night Watch Party at the Orpheum
is a great big blue celebration!

Join Us at our Monthly Action Meeting, April 13!
Join your fellow defenders of democracy at our monthly gathering, Saturday, April 13, 10 am – noon. Once again we have an action-filled agenda designed to inform and inspire you in your commitment to a stronger, more just society. We’ll learn from Deb Harris about the history and community roots of our meeting place, the Murdoch Center. We’ll share information about the recent Presidential Preference Election, renewing our commitments as Precinct Committee persons (PC’s), and more. And of course we’ll be selling tickets and getting excited for the Roosevelt – Kennedy Gala and other upcoming events.

and thank her for accepting the position.
Additional office hours may be staffed by volunteers, helping us provide more access for assisting candidates, petition circulators, and Get Out the Vote volunteers.

Orientation for New Volunteers, March 26, 2024
Twenty-seven enthusiastic volunteers joined us at our office in the Historic Ice House for a great overview of political process in Arizona and the many ways our County Party contributes to the health of our democracy. Education Director Linda Guarino delivered an engaging presentation of Arizona political structure, where voters fit in, and how volunteers can influence the outcome of elections. Volunteer Coordinator Dawn Schackner helped organize the event, adding to her list of Democracy Defenders. Our new volunteers are already being matched with opportunities to assist in communication and outreach, event planning and execution, and more. Watch for our bimonthly volunteer training sessions and invite your neighbors, friends, and colleagues to join us to elect more Democrats in 2024 and beyond.
There is nothing we cannot accomplish when we work together. (Joe)
Arizona for Abortion Access Ballot Initiative
The Coconino County Democrats office is your local petition hub. We have the Arizona for Abortion Access (AAA) ballot initiative petitions available and ready for circulation.
The AAA Campaign requires that all petition circulators must first complete an official petition circulator training. Right now there are online trainings available by registering with Healthcare Rising and/ or Arizona’s List. The Coconino Democratic Party and Indivisible NAZ are hosting a monthly in-person training. The next will be at 11am, March 23, 2024.
*Please note in advance, the AAA Coalition requires circulators to complete the petition training and provide your original training date information to check-out any petitions from the Flagstaff or NAU Hub.

- You can stop by on TUESDAYS and Fridays between 11:30 AM-1:30 PM to pick up petitions.
- And get petitions notarized TUESDAYS and Fridays between 11:30 AM-1:30 PM.
- We are looking for volunteers to host events, add new locations, and notarize petitions.
- If you are a notary and would like to volunteer services, please email info@coconinodemocrats.org .
- New approach! Indivisible provides a free tool that gives you a list of 10 neighbors who are likely to sign the petition. You do not need to be a member to use this tool! You’ll get a sample script and optional print out to leave behind if no one is home. New this spring: First Fridays with the Coconino Democrats!
- Visit us at the Historic Ice House April 5, from 5PM-8PM, to view the ongoing art displays, and stop by the Coconino County Democratic Party office to SIGN THE ARIZONA FOR ABORTION ACCESS PETITION and learn how to get involved. Pick up a temporary tattoo or make a button from one of our designs!
Getting this initiative onto the 2024 ballot will be key to turning out the vote and winning all races from re-electing Biden to flipping our legislature. We need your help!
***Coconino County Democrats volunteer to serve dinner at the
Flagstaff Family Food Center Kitchen on the First Thursday of each month.
This commitment is from 3PM to 6PM @ their kitchen,
located at 1903 N. 2nd Street, Flagstaff, AZ.
We’re looking for folks to serve meals on
April 4th and May 2, 2024.
