From the Chair’s Desk

I hope everyone who celebrated had a wonderful Easter filled with joy, love, and cherished moments with family and friends.

We are all waiting for 4:00 PM today to hear from the Florida Supreme Court — and whether or not the voices of 1.4 million Republicans, Democrats, and Independents will be heard.

For the past year, you all have been putting in the work to put Florida in play in the 2024 election. This past week, we were honored by a special visit from Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who stopped by Miami. More than 50 activists and volunteers convened to make phone calls for vote-by-mail enrollment. This visit underscores the narrative I’ve been emphasizing: Florida is in play.

Additionally, we received fantastic news from the Biden campaign. They are ramping up their presence in Florida, further confirming our belief that the state is a crucial battleground. A big congratulations to our Executive Director Phillip Jerez, who will serve as senior advisor in Florida.

Throughout the past year, we’ve worked on rebuilding our party and restoring the trust of voters, party leaders, and donors. They seek a party that advocates for everyday Floridians and addresses their concerns. Our efforts have yielded victories in Duval, HD35, and numerous local races. With your continued support, I am confident that Florida will remain a pivotal battleground in 2024, and together, we will secure significant victories in November.

Florida Democrats believe in effective and efficient government that prioritizes quality education, affordable health care, and an economy in which anyone who works hard can succeed.

Most importantly, we believe that we are stronger together. We believe the fundamental American promise — that you can go as far as your own hard work will take you — should shine brightest in Florida.

That is why we champion the middle class and cherish the principle that all Floridians should have the opportunity to work hard and succeed. That is why we will never stop fighting for better public schools, because education is the surest path to a better life for millions.

From standing for affordable health care and better schools to fighting for civil rights and access to the ballot box, Florida Democrats are leading every day to move our state forward.
