  • ONLY PRO-CLEAN ENERGY NOMINEES FOR FERC
Tomorrow/Thursday, the Senate Energy Committee is set to consider three new nominees for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. FERC regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, methane gas and oil and approves the siting and construction of liquified methane gas import and export facilities that are on or near the shore – giving them immense power over our clean energy transition. Let’s reach out to our senators and urge them to only confirm these and future nominees to FERC if they are willing to commit to a green energy future and to prioritizing climate impact.
  • HELP ARIZONA CANDIDATES GET ON BALLOTAZ Dems is asking for our help to get candidates on the ballot.  For candidates to appear on the ballot they must collect hundreds to thousands of signatures from registered voters. We are being asked to canvass from our couches to call with them to ask voters to go online and sign candidate petitions so they will have Democrats to vote for.  Training will be provided!  The next available virtual time to help is Tuesday, March 26 from 4 – 6pm MST,  Let’s sign up here.

  • SUPREME COURT TERM LIMITSWith the growing dissatisfaction and distrust of the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act of 2023 (H.R. 5566) has been introduced in the House by Rep. Hank Johnson. Rep. Johnson’s TERM Act would introduce fixed 18-year terms for current and future Supreme Court justices and establish regular nominations of justices in the first and third years of each presidential term as the sole means of Supreme Court appointments.  The Brennan Center advocates for SCOTUS term limits, as do US judges and scholars.  Let’s contact our representatives and urge them to co-sponsor and support this bill and call on our senators to follow suit.
  • BILL TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGED MISCONDUCT BY DOJ ATTORNEYSLast month, a group of bipartisan Senators introduced a bill, the Inspector General Access Act of 2024 (S.3813), to expand the jurisdiction of the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General. The bill would allow the DOJ Inspector General to investigate alleged misconduct by DOJ attorneys.  Increased oversight and accountability are key. Let’s tell our Senators to sign on to this bill and get it passed
