Dumb & Dumber: Republican gun laws endanger school children

Republicans care more about the life of unborn embryos, but do little to protect school children from gun violence.

“After Mass Shootings, Republicans Expand Access to Guns. In states around the country, Republican lawmakers are pushing laws to expand the ability to own and carry firearms”. – NY Times

Dangerous Law in Tennessee: When the fire alarm rings, don’t evacuate the school? – David Reidman in K12 School Shooting Database

“The law in Tennessee bill would require teachers to keep students inside classrooms when the fire alarm goes off at both public and private k-12 schools. The was passed as the result of one student tragically dying as the class responded to the fire alarm during a school shooting. Before fire codes and fire evacuations became standard, hundreds of students died inside schools. In places that don’t have fire codes, this still happens. 13 kids died and 29 were injured jumping from windows at a school fire in China.”

Put more guns on the streets and then demand school children not evacuate if the fire alarm goes off. What happens if the shooter has intentionally set off the fire alarm. Three words best describe Republican gun policies as more children are slaughtered. “Dumb and Dumber”. Check the high cost of Republican policies in Tennessee and nationwide with this map.

Elections have consequences: Dumb and Dumber Republican Gun Policies

Allowing people as young as 18 to carry a handgun without a permit

“After a mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas last year prompted calls for new gun restrictions, Republican-led states around the country moved in the other direction. One of them was Tennessee, where the governor insisted that tighter firearms laws would never deter wrongdoers. “We can’t control what they do,” Gov. Bill Lee said.

Tennessee lawmakers have instead moved to make firearms even more accessible, proposing bills this year to arm more teachers and allow college students to carry weapons on campus, among other measures. Then came the attack at the Covenant School in Nashville, where a shooter carrying multiple weapons killed six people, including three children. The same day, a federal judge signed off on a state settlement allowing people as young as 18 to carry a handgun without a permit.” – NY Times

Tennessee is a permit-less carry state

Tennessee Republicans propose strict rules on decorum, but not guns… “Tennessee is a permitless carry state. Allowing guns into committee rooms is an issue of safety. During special session, some members of the Proud Boys were here in the Legislature, and if we’re sitting in the committee room, and people are sitting in front of you with a gun, that doesn’t make anyone feel safe,” said Rep. Justin Jones. – MSNBC

Republican hypocrisy: Protect unborn embryos, sacrifice children

Fire Safety vs. School Security. The most secure building possible is an underground, windowless bomb shelter with an armored door. Inversely, the most fire safe structure is a pavilion without any walls because it is impossible for anyone to be trapped inside. 21 students died and 100 were injured inside a school that caught fire in Siberia. The hundred-year-old building lacked the fire safety features that are required in US schools. This is why following fire safety codes and rapidly evacuating before a fire has time to spread is a critically important procedure to follow.

These minimum safety standards have prevented a mass fatality school fire from happening for the last seven decades. When these fire codes are violated, the consequences are deadly. In 2003, 100 people died and 230 were injured when a fire started inside the Station Nightclub in Rhode Island during a concert. To keep people from sneaking in the side doors, these emergency exit doors were chained shut. When pyrotechnics on stage started a fire and there was no way for attendees to get out.” – David Reidman in K12 School Shooting Database

TakeAway: Elections have consequences. Vote for Democrats to reduce gun violence and to protect in vitro fertilization (IVF).
