- TRUMP THREATENS TO BETRAY OUR ALLIES… AGAIN
Over the weekend, Donald Trump once again threatened our NATO allies, claiming he told a foreign leader he would encourage Russia to attack nations we are treaty-bound to defend if he deemed their defense spending insufficient. In addition to representing a betrayal of our friends, this suggestion will embolden Russian aggression, and the ambiguity over whether we will respect our mutual defense commitments could contribute to a wider war. It is crucial that our leaders respond – and we have an immediate opportunity to do so. The Senate passed an initial procedural hurdle for a bill to provide Ukraine with military aid in their struggle to defend themselves against the Russian invasion, with more than a dozen Republicans defying Trump to support the measure. Meanwhile, Democratic House leader Hakeem Jeffries has suggested if such a bill passes the Senate he is open to supporting a discharge petition to force a floor vote whether Speaker Johnson likes it or not. Let’s reach out to our members of Congress, telling our senators to support the bill, our House members to initiate and sign on to a discharge petition ASAP, and both (especially the Republicans) to make strong and public statements condemning Trump’s comments. - MEASLES OUTBREAK DISTURBINGA case of measles was traced to Cincinnati-Northern Airport in Boone County. Health authorities say that people who were passing through the airport may have been exposed. Schools across the country are at risk as vaccination rates are dropping. As outbreaks of measles spread throughout the world, anti-vaccine activists aren’t just urging people not to get vaccinated — they’re taking a page from a well-worn playbook, falsely downplaying the dangers from the highly contagious respiratory disease. Let’s make sure that we and our children are vaccinated against measles and other diseases as recommended by the CDC.

- EDUCATE VOTERS ON DANGERS OF THE NO LABELS PARTY: the No-Labels party first incorporated in 2009 as a social welfare, rather than a political organization whose task was to bring Republicans and Democrats together to “solve some of Congress’s most intractable problems.” It was only in 2021 that the organization’s mission changed to putting up a third party presidential candidate, a move that many Democrats fear will hand the election to Donald Trump. And since the organization doesn’t have to play by the rules of a political party, there are fewer restrictions on the amounts and types of donations that can be made, and donors do not have to be listed, though it’s been revealed that one major donor is conservative Texas businessman Harlan Crowe, in the news for his inappropriate gifts to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Let’s make sure to spread the truth about No Labels far and wide, and make it clear to our friends and networks that a vote for the No Labels potential candidates is a win for Trump.
