Dear Friends,
Trump has claimed to be the only one who can help those who feel left behind, in his efforts to obtain unthinkingly loyal enablers for his white supremacist, misogynistic, malevolent plans.
When Trump feels threatened, he lashes out in childish temper tantrums, using vile insults and authoritarian threats, usually as the cameras are rolling. His verbal assaults on elected officials, judges, jury members and ordinary citizens have resulted in his followers making death threats and committing violence against innocent people and their families, as intended by Trump.
Trump made unreasoning anger a key feature of his campaigns in 2016 and 2020. When he lost the presidential election in 2020, he urged his cult followers to attend a January 6, 2021 “Stop the Steal” rally, directly resulting in thousands of his armed followers invading the U.S. Capitol building, causing severe injuries to people and property, and the deaths of 10 people, including 5 police officers.
Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist who grew up with Trump, confirms that her Uncle Donald is a “malignant narcissist.” In her second book about her uncle entitled “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man”, she describes him as a fraud and a bully, and warns America that her uncle’s political ambitions must be defeated, or this may be the last chance for our representative democracy.
Trump seeks the power of the presidency to try to remake our country into an authoritarian dystopia, as well as to self-pardon his many crimes to try to stay out of prison. On Truth Social and X (formerly Twitter), he rants against anyone, by name, who has said something he did not like or whom he perceives as not bending the knee to him. His attacks encourage his dangerously loyal bullies to threaten and harass anyone he attacks as his enemy, such as:
- Trump threatens Nancy Pelosi on social media, followed by her 82 year old husband Paul’s skull being fractured by a hammer-wielding Trumpkin who broke into his home asking, “Where’s Nancy?”
- Trump verbally attacked New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron’s law clerk, who began receiving vile emails and threatening voicemails on her personal phone. The judge’s house was “swatted” on Christmas Day. The threats were so dangerous that the judge imposed a legal gag order on Trump.
- A court determined that Trump’s and Giuliani’s false claims of ballot stuffing caused two innocent poll workers, Rudy Freeman and her daughter, Shea Moss, to have to change their names, leave their homes and to go into witness protection, resulting in an order for Giuliani to pay $146 million in damages.
- Nikki Haley, competing with Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, criticized him on the campaign trail. In response, her parents were “swatted” when an armed team of SWAT officers, guns raised, were called to her parents’ home by a Trump supporter.
- Trump declared that he is more popular than Taylor Swift, in retribution for her successful call for her fans to register to vote. Now fans are justifiably concerned for her safety. #ProtectTaylorSwift has been trending.
In an August 2023 opinion piece in Politico, Donell Harvin summed up the situation: “Trump understands the considerable influence that he has over the radical and violent members of his following, and after January 6, he is fully aware of their capabilities, and triggers. He not only courts them, but simultaneously manipulates them. His numerous public statements show support for domestic violent extremist groups — from “very fine people on both sides” to “stand back and stand by” to promises to pardon many of those convicted on charges related to January 6 should he land in the White House for a second term.”
If we value our freedoms, our democracy, and our sanity, in November, “We the People” must make this malignant narcissist a LOSER again!
