It’s only a matter of time before Republicans endorse Trump as their nominee, just as they did in 2016 and 2020. And equally real: He could win a second term defined by vengeance, autocracy, and unimaginable cruelty to the most vulnerable members of our society.
MAGA Republican agenda: anti-WOKE, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-transgender, ianti-public education, anti-Black-Hispanic-Asian, anti-history, anti-science, anti-healthcare. Pro-national abortion ban, pro-insurrection, pro-Trump. Nothing to improve our lives.
The Biden-Harris campaign calls Trump’s immigration plans “extreme, racist, cruel policies” that are “meant to stoke fear and divide us, betting that a frightened nation is how he can win in 2024. Those of us still living on Planet A can use this toolkit to alert our followers and subscribers to how cruel and authoritarian Trump truly is, and how his MAGAs in Congress will scrape and bow to his every demand.
Unfortunately, the 118th MAGA Congress has the same view of immigration that cult leader Donald Trump does:
- Immigrants from “European” countries – Our doors are open!
- Immigrants from, Trump’s words, “s-hole countries” – are “poisoning the blood of our country.” (spoken first by Adolf Hitler, lately by candidate Donald J. Trump).
In an address to voters in New Hampshire, Trump declared that if he gets a second term, he promises a sweeping round up of what he calls “illegals”, confining them to detention camps before deporting them. The New York Times describes his plan as “an assault on immigration on a scale unseen in modern American history.” His plan even involves deporting millions of people every year including those who have called the United States home for decades. Oh yes, and he would reimpose the Muslim ban. This fool even wants to end birthright citizenship for babies born in the U.S. to parents who entered our country illegally or legally.
Remember where we started at the beginning of 2023. First, Republicans wanted to cut Social Security and Medicare. We protested them and Biden boxed them in at the State of the Union. They dropped the demand. Then the Republicans wanted to cut Medicaid for kids with disabilities and eliminate 100,000 teachers’ jobs, among other ridiculous and appalling proposed cuts. We protested them and Biden flatly said no. Republicans dropped those demands too.
We have a very real opportunity to defeat Trump, make MAGA irrelevant, and restore a Democratic trifecta that can help deliver on the promise of a multiracial democracy that works for all of us. Whether we wake up to a strengthened democracy or a country on the road to cruel, chaotic fascism on November 6 will be crucially determined by the work we do from now until Election Day.
Help elect Democrats, up and down the ballot to reject this MAGA evil. Let America know that we must be unified in our efforts to re-elect Biden-Harris and protect our democracy from dictator wannabe Trump and his enablers.
