The Missouri Democratic Party Announces the Return of the Camp Carnahan Campaign Training Program

Missourians who want to run for office or work on Democratic candidate or issue campaigns are invited to sign up for an in-depth training program to equip participants with the skills necessary to win elections. A relaunch of the successful program that has trained over 800 political staff and candidates, Camp Carnahan will be held February 24 & 25, 2024 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Camp Carnahan kicks off on Saturday, February 24 at 9:30 am and ends for the day at 5:30 pm. Sunday will begin at 9:30am and conclude at 4:00pm. You can sign up to participate in Camp Carnahan here. The cost to attend Camp Carnahan is $35 or $25 for students/ seniors and includes membership with the Missouri Democratic Party. Camp Carnahan will provide meals, a workbook pdf sent to each camper, interactions with Democratic elected officials, and an invitation to join our job bank. Trainings will be led by some of Missouri’s most talented campaign professionals and participants may have opportunities to meet and train with prominent national campaigners and political professionals.
What is Camp Carnahan?
Camp Carnahan was started in 1997 by Governor Mel Carnahan and has grown into an important component of the Missouri Democratic Party infrastructure that has successfully trained over 800 campaign professionals across the state. Camp Carnahan will offer participants 3 different learning tracks, each to include lectures and simulations led by campaign professionals from across the country. Participants will be divided into these tracks and then teams, and will compete against each other in a hands-on campaign exercise. The winning teams will be awarded prizes at the end of the day on Sunday.

- Track 1: How to be a Better Candidate
- Track 2: Introduction to Campaign Management for Future Paid Professionals
- Track 3: Issue Advocacy and Organizing
