Help us Fix Media Now!

January 24, 2024 – Save the Date and Join us with special guest Margaret Sullivan for a conversation, “How journalism can help save democracy. An exploration – and an action plan!”

Current Guardian journalist, former Public Editor of The New York Times, media critic, and author of Newsroom Confidential and Ghosting the NewsMargaret Sullivan joins us on January 24, at 7 pm ET, to discuss her experiences in media and suggestions on how you can support pro-democracy media and journalists (FREE). Sign up here.

Separately, acting on our belief that a well-informed citizenry is the foundation of a democratic society, MAD is taking meaningful action: to ask The New York Times to reinstate a public editor/ombuds. From 2003-2017, The Times had a public editor, eliminating the position in favor of their Reader Center and comments on social media platforms. The Times needs a public editor to uphold proper journalism ethics, reinvigorate meaningful, responsive communications with subscribers, and importantly reset the news industry standard as a liaison with the public. Please amplify this request through direct contact with the paper and/or on social media. Read the Letter.

Help us fight for more pro-democracy media and a better-informed America.
