Phone Banks for California Start Thursday

Indivisible Yolo is excited to announce that our first phone bank of 2024 will be this Thursday. California focused phone banks will continue every Thursday until November, aimed at handing the Speaker’s gavel to Hakeem Jeffries.

Indivisible Yolo, together with the California Grassroots Alliance, has identified six California Congressional districts (CA-13, CA-22, CA-27, CA-41, CA-45, and CA-47), all purple, all winnable.  The road to the House majority runs through California, and that’s where we will focus in 2024, beginning with the Central Valley’s CA-13, a district decided by 564 votes in 2022.

Join hosts Rachel Beck and Emily Hill this Thursday 5-7 pm to make calls to young voters for the March 5th primary in support of Democrat Adam Gray in district CA-13.

All are welcome. No experience needed. We will be there every Thursday to train and support you whether this is your first call or your thousandth.  We’re  here to make the most of your valuable time and energy, to enable you to make a strategic contribution to winning back the House and protecting our Democracy.

We need YOU to make those human, person to person connections, with voters that change election outcomes.

Sign up now, join Rachel, Emily, and a community of fellow protectors of democracy on Zoom and commit to Do More in ‘24.

Contact your Senator: Reject Trump-Era Immigration Policies

For months, Senators have been negotiating over what’s called the “supplemental” funding package — additional money the Biden administration requested from Congress to respond to crises around the world. Republicans are playing brazen, dangerous hardball in order to force Trump-era immigration policies in exchange for support for Ukraine, and Democrats are considering caving to their demands.

They haven’t reached a deal yet, but the policies on the table are nothing short of breath-taking: an end to asylum for everyone except the small number of folks who can afford to buy a flight into the U.S., mass deportation — nationwide — without a hearing, and a dramatic increase in the incarceration of asylum-seekers, including families, and a restart to Trump’s signature Title 42 policy.

These policies would be dangerous and harmful enough on their own. But we’re heading into a tough election year with Trump and Trump-acolytes threatening to take back power, we cannot hand them even more tools to inflict their cruel agenda on vulnerable people.

Call your Senator now and tell them to say no to MAGA immigration policies.

Recall MacDonald Campaign

Please see this message from our friends at the Recall MacDonald campaign and RSVP!

“The Recall MacDonald campaign is gearing up again to work on getting out the vote for Woodland’s WJUSD area 2 recall of the anti-trans school board member Emily MacDonald. After months of work we have qualified for the March 5th primary ballot. That was accomplished with a ton of hard work, often by Indivisible Yolo members (THANK YOU!). However, to keep all that hard work from being for nothing we now have to go back to voters and remind them what it is we want them to vote YES on! https://signup.com/go/HBseiaJ

Tell Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry to support AB 83 and limit corporate spending in elections

Sample script for Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry (your own words are best)

Hello, my name is [your name] and my zip code is [zip code].

I am calling to encourage the Assemblymember to pass AB 83, a bill that would prohibit foreign-influenced corporate spending in California’s state and local elections.

Across the country, companies with significant foreign ownership, like Uber, DoorDash, Amazon, and Airbnb, have used their money to influence the outcome of elections and to advance political agendas in their favor.

We deserve a democracy by and for the people of California, not multinational corporations. I urge you to vote “yes” on AB 83.
