Americans Are Signing Up for Obamacare (ACA) in Record Numbers

More than 15 million people have signed up for health insurance plans offered on the Affordable Care Act’s federal marketplace, a 33% increase compared to the same time last year, according to preliminary data… more than 19 million people are projected enroll in 2024 coverage by the end of the current enrollment period next month. That total would include those who gain coverage through state marketplaces, continuing the record-setting pace. – NYT

HealthCare.gov Enrollment Exceeds 15 Million

Biden-Harris Administration encourages everyone who needs affordable, quality health insurance to visit HealthCare.gov and sign up for coverage by the January 16 final deadline.

“The Biden-Harris Administration announced today that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace enrollment continues at a record-breaking pace. As of December 15, 2023, for HealthCare.gov states and December 9, 2023, for State-based Marketplaces, preliminary data projects that over 19 million consumers will enroll in 2024 coverage through the ACA Marketplaces — over 7 million more than when President Biden took office. This includes 15.3 million individuals who have selected a health plan using the HealthCare.gov platform. On December 15 alone, the deadline for coverage starting January 1, 2024, more than 745,000 people selected a Marketplace plan through HealthCare.gov — the largest single day in history.

“Millions of Americans signing up for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act is good news. It means more Americans have the peace of mind of knowing that going to the doctor won’t empty their bank account,” said Secretary Xavier Becerra. “The Biden-Harris Administration will continue working to expand health care coverage and lower prescription drug costs, so taking care of your health is not a luxury.” – HHS

Trump threatens to roll back Obamacare

Trump revived calls to roll back Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, if he returns to the White House… After trying and failing to repeal the ACA, and suffering for it at the ballot box, Republican candidates abandoned their calls for eliminating the law in the 2022 midterm elections, recognizing the push as a political loser. But Trump could bring it back in 2024. – NBC News

Make the facts clear

DemLabs created this map using ArcGIS Online in about 2 hours using data from Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services.

We first created two sets of information for all the states and over 3,000 counties. This includes the total number of ACA beneficiaries, seniors, those with disabilities and those with prescription drug benefits. This information is overlaid with the Congressperson, Senator and Governor for that area. This makes it easy to see the number of people in that state if MAGA Republicans succeed in kill ACA (Obamacare). Zoom into the map to see detail on the congressional district and county boundaries.
