- HELP FLIP NY-03In less than two months, New York will hold a special election to fill the House seat left by former Congressman George Santos. This election presents an opportunity to chip away at the narrow majority that Republicans have in the House, currently sitting at 221-213. Swing Left has identified NY-03 as one of the GOP-held swing districts that will be crucial in helping us win back the House, and have set up a page where we can find ways to flip the seat in the February special election. Let’s check out their page and sign up to phone bank or, if we are a New York resident, knock on doors and encourage our neighbors to get out and vote!
- SUPPORT PRO-CHOICE ATTORNEYS GENERAL IN 2024 ELECTIONSAfter the bombshell article in the New York Times that revealed that Justice Gorsuch signed off on Dobbs 10 minutes after receiving Alito’s draft opinion it has become even more clear that we can’t expect the Supreme Court to be thoughtful and mindful in looking at nuance in upcoming abortion cases. Our best hope for protecting reproductive rights at the moment lies with state attorneys general. This article from the American Constitution Society explains the many ways that attorneys general can influence the reproductive rights landscape in their state. In 2024, ten states will be electing Attorneys General: Indiana, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. If we live in one of these states, let’s make sure we vote in the primaries, and let’s find out how we can get involved. Even if we don’t live in those states, let’s consider making donations to pro-choice candidates who are running for AG.
