How your housing needs are being exploited

Ignore the MAGA spin and focus on the facts. We took data on the homeless population by state from the World Population Review overlaid with the areas where Hedge Funds have bought up housing driving up housing prices and rents with data from RedFin.

This lets you see at a glance of the number of homeless in a state (including veterans), hedge fund activity and the MAGA Republicans pushing to cut housing relief for working Americans while pushing for tax cuts for their billionaire donors. If only the homeless could chip in and buy a luxury vacation for the globe trotting Clarence Thomas they could get rulings that helped them…

Tax payers bail out billionaires who come back to price gouge them

The Wall Street Journal issued a story on BlackRock and their activities in buying homes. Single-family homes are widely regarding among the populace as the American dream, the idea of owning property. Furthermore, Wall Street banks’ greed on underwriting risky loan products drove the housing bubbles in 2006 and 2007, which ended up as the global financial crisis of 2008.

Then taxpayers bailout out Wall Street and other companies like AIG, General Motors, and Ally Financial. In the ashes of the financial crisis, private equity firms like BlackRock created Invitation Homes to buy up cheap homes and rent them out. Other investors followed suit such as GI Partners backing Waypoint, and the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation backing American Homes 4 Rent. – SWFI

MAGA voter suppression silences the homeless

Republican voter suppression makes it harder for the homeless to vote. “Criminally underserved and unheard by the public, the homeless population in the United States is one of the most marginalized groups in recent history. People experiencing homelessness lack access to basic care and resources meant to be universal human rights, and because of the inaccessible nature of voter registration, they are unable to do anything about it.

Pathways to Housing, helped register members of the community during the election, but their efforts were hampered by the barriers of not having an address or valid identification documents. So while there are laws that support homeless voting, the vast majority of people experiencing homelessness do not vote; voter identification laws in 36 states as well as the many other obstacles that people face when trying to obtain the appropriate documents has led to the common phrase: “You need an ID to get an ID.” – Brown Political Review

TakeAway: Can’t afford your rent? Can’t buy a house? Remember elections have consequences. Vote for Democrats to curb billionaire greed that’s making housing unaffordable.
