What’s up with the economy? Get the *real* story.

More jobs are being created than ever before. Salaries are up. Stock market is up. Why is there a big disconnect between public perception and reality?

Could it be based on where you’re getting your news? Billionaire owned media outlets peddle their agenda, not that of hard working Americans. When in doubt, check the facts for yourself.

This infographic provides real data from the Federal Reserve and the NY Stock Exchange so you can make well informed judgements – not one distorted by billionaires to serve their own agenda.

Purpose drives storytelling

This StoryMap starts with a friendly image of Homer Simpson with a simple question “What’s up with the. economy?”
By design it doesn’t provide any hints on where the story is going. This hopefully encourages more people to read it (or scan the QR Code) regardless of their political orientation.
There are three frames on employment, salaries and the stock market. Each has its own graph and links to more information so people can dig further if they choose to.
The conclusion brings up the issue of the Murdoch media empire pushing storylines that the billionaire Murdochs prefer.
The StoryMap uses cartoons to illustrate key points so the data isn’t overwhelming.
The StoryMap can be read in seconds on a phone, tablet or laptop.

Sean Hannity demonstrates how to help an authoritarian gain power

During a conversation with Donald Trump on Tuesday, Fox News host Sean Hannity asked the former president and front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination the functional equivalent of the rookie cop’s question above.

“The media has been focused on this and attacking you,” Hannity said to Trump. “Under no circumstances, you are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody.”

“Except for Day One,” Trump replied. He said, in essence, “I won’t be a dictator — except for the moment I regain power.” – Washington Post

TakeAway: Check where you’re getting your information? Who owns that media outlet? What is their agenda? Are they pushing the billionaire owner’s agenda or provide real facts? When in doubt get the real facts directly. Don’t get bamboozled, Homer.
