The Ohio Scoop

Friends,

The Ohio Scoop is your weekly political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.

If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.

We need to fill you in on everything that happened this week, so let’s jump right in.

We’re Baaaaaack

While The Ohio Scoop took a short hiatus after the November 7th election, the team here at Ohio Democrats haven’t slowed down. And much to our dismay, neither has Frank LaRose.

This week, Loser LaRose confirmed something that we knew all along– that abortion opponents helped him craft the ballot language for Issue One in a way meant to benefit their campaign to defeat the measure. As it turns out, the three groups his office consulted on the ballot language all played a major role in the anti-Issue One campaign.

As we all know, this effort proved fruitless because Ohioans voted YES on Issue 1 in November in a 14-point victory. But this highlights the fact that LaRose, and the other corrupt republicans in the Statehouse, will stop at nothing to overrule the opinions of the majority of Ohioans.

By the way, LaRose is now seventeen days past the U.S. Senate Ethics Comittee’s deadline to file his personal finance disclosure. LaRose has not complied with a federal law requiring US House and Senate candidates to submit information about their income and assets.

LaRose’s failure to file is notable when you consider the $250,000 personal loan he made to his campaign in September.

That’s rich coming from a man who has mocked his wealthy opponents for lending personal money to their campaigns. His claims to be a humble “thousandaire” don’t carry as much weight after that.

So while Ohio Republicans have been doing their best to out-extreme each other, we actually have an important and very exciting announcement!

Drumroll Please…

The Ohio Supreme Court is the last line of defense in protecting the rights of Ohians. Ohio deserves a Supreme Court that stands for justice, fairness and equality under the law, not one that serves as a rubber stamp for political extremism coming from corrupt politicians at the statehouse in Columbus.

Ohio is the only state in the country that has the chance to flip its Supreme Court in 2024, but we need all hands on deck to defend our democracy. Visit our website to learn more about our Build the Bench program.

Until Next Time

2023 has been a monumental and hopeful chapter of Ohio’s story that deserves much celebration. Control of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House will undoubtedly run through Ohio in 2024. Ohio will also be the only state in the nation with an opportunity to gain control of the state Supreme Court. With two statewide wins under our belt, Ohio Dems are ready to win – again. Consider chipping in to help us win in 2024 and beyond!

If you’re unsure about how much more you can contribute, simply reply to this email. We’d be happy to help.

As always, thank you for standing with us. I am immensely grateful for your partnership.

Onward,

Emily Feltz
Finance Director, Ohio Democrats
