Pinellas County School Board Meeting Parenting with Pride: Fall Action Plan
Tuesday, November 14
10am – 1pm EST
PCS Administration Building – Conference Hall
301 4th St SW
Largo, FL 33770
Via Equality Florida:
It is time for every school board member in Florida to hear from us. As Floridians, we are fed up with the attacks on our children and the teachers who help to educate them. Right now, our local school boards and Superintendents are making decisions that will shape the climate in our schools for years. There has never been a more important time to show up, tell your story, and make clear that we demand schools that respect ALL of our families.
Once you register for this event you will receive a toolkit. This toolkit is designed to share the resources we have used and are currently using in Florida to resist these attacks. In it, you’ll find ready-to-use talking points, sample digital content for social media, and sample emails to help you recruit to school board meetings.
YOU are needed. Please join in this movement and commit to taking action by attending OUR local school board meetings.
Florida Needs the Right to Clean and Healthy Waters
Sign the petition to put this measure on ther 2024 ballot:
Ballot Summary: This amendment creates a fundamental right to clean and healthy waters. The amendment may be used to sue State executive agencies for harm or threatened harm to Florida’s waters, which include aquatic ecosystems. This amendment defines terms, identifies affected constitutional provisions in Article IV governing the executive branch, provides for civil action enforcement, allows attorney’s and expert witness fees to prevailing plaintiffs, and provides equitable remedies including restoration of waters.
A New Ballot Measure for 2024: The Constitutional Right to Abortion Access
Ed Note: This issue is included again this week and will continue to be included in some form until abortion rights are on the Florida ballot.
As you may have seen in the news, the Florida reproductive rights movement is launching a ballot initiative campaign to protect access to abortion and ensure our personal medical decisions are ours and ours alone to make.
Time and time again, our state government has chosen to ignore the will of Floridians by passing increasingly restrictive laws to limit access to abortion.
Extremist legislators have done this despite polling — and election results — that have shown the majority of Florida voters support access to abortion. With this ballot initiative, Floridians will reclaim our right to control our medical decisions, our lives, and our futures.
To get on the ballot, more than 900,000 petition forms will need to be completed by Florida voters and the ballots must be from all parts of Florida. This is being organized by a new coalition “Floridians Protect Freedom” (FPF).
Instructions and training are available at the FPF web site.
Both Pinellas County Democratic Party offices will be Petitions Collection Hubs for FPF — both offices will be places to pick up blank petition forms and deliver completed ones.
