When Politics Trumps Science: Mapping The Deadly Cost of Ignoring COVID Experts

4 mins read

There have been 108 million cases of COVID in America. 1,174,850 Americans have died from it (as of 9/11/2023).

Why do Republicans ignore the health experts and block mandates. Sue the federal government to prevent it from curbing the spread of COVID misinformation?

Time for a sanity check. Check this DemLabs map based on data from the John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center for the number of COVID cases and deaths in your county. Decide for yourself how smart it is to block masks, vaccinations and efforts to limit COVID misinformation on social media?

Opposing measures to curb Coronavirus spreading

“Vance announced legislation called that would block the federal government from reimposing mask mandates to prevent the spread of coronavirus… Vance’s bill would prohibit any federal official, including the president, from requiring masks on domestic air travel, public transit systems, or primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools, and would prohibit air carriers, transit authorities and educational institutions from refusing to serve people who don’t wear masks. Vance has introduced multiple bills designed to appeal to conservative voters.” – Cleveland

Pushing for freedom to spread COVID Disinfo

“Bailey filed Missouri v. Biden that prohibits government from removing content it deems misinformation from social media platforms. Another Bailey case “shot down the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness program.”

“I think Hawley started this kind of suing the federal government business, that Schmitt then did in larger measure and that Bailey is continuing to do,” said Harvey Tettlebaum. Hawley was  quoted by the Kansas City Star  shortly after taking office saying that he planned… to use the legal action to quickly roll back Obama-era environmental and business policies.” –  Springfield News Leader

TakeAway: Your tax dollars pay politicians salaries. Hold them accountable for their actions that might jeopardize your life.
