See you at the Davis Farmers Market Wednesday!

Powering Progress: Happy Anniversary, IRA!

August 16th is the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) becoming law and we’ll be at the Davis Farmers Market on Wednesday August 16 from 4-8 PM to celebrate.

If investing in infrastructure isn’t typically on the top of your reasons to celebrate, consider this: in the first 6 months over 3,300 new clean energy jobs were created right here in California. Beyond new jobs, by generating our own renewable and reliable energy, we will stabilize the energy market increasing affordability. In addition to all the investment in EVs, there are provisions for tax credit for energy saving home upgrades and rebates for energy saving appliances.

Beyond climate provisions it also provides for lower prescription drug prices (now under attack by the pharmaceutical industry) including insulin capped at $35 a month and limits to out-of-pocket prescription costs for all seniors using Medicare. Plus reduced health care premiums for people who buy insurance on their own saving people an average of $800 a year.

So please join and share this with your friends:

And there’s plenty of food and live music at the Davis Farmers Market on Wednesdays!

Voter Registration at Modesto Community College

Want to fight for Women’s rights, voting rights, and end book bans? Registering voters is the #1 most effective way to do all these things! So join us by signing up on Mobilize and we’ll get volunteer rides organized to register voters at the Modesto Community College on August 29 + 30 … sign up now for one or both days!
No experience necessary. We’ll start with a 15-minute training at the staging site and deploy on the campus. We’ll have clipboards, forms, and pens. Just bring your smartphone or tablet if you have one, a mask, a little water, sunscreen, and some comfortable shoes.
NOTE: If possible, wear a liberal-looking t-shirt, hat, or pin! It really helps. Bring a friend! Can’t wait to see you there!

CA-13 & CA-22 Phone Banks

BAC (Bay Area Coalition), which is composed of some 27+ progressive groups including Indivisible Yolo, is already doing weekly phone banks reaching out to voters to identify issues in order to mount more effective campaigns in CA 13 and CA 22 in 2024. Both districts are winnable; and getting folks involved now is exactly what’s needed to win them back.
Simply put, the more often we engage with the same set of voters the more in-tune we become with the nuances of a specific district. Getting involved in a district now by gathering voter feedback on their top issues gives one keener insight and, thus, more confidence in their future voter outreach, either in person or by phone. The phone banks, organized by BAC and CADEM, are scheduled for Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30 and you can sign up via Mobilize here.

The Sky is Blue and Clear Again- State Strong Lobby Days are Here Again!

We’re sharing Indivisible CA: StateStrong’s invitation to Lobby Days, from CASS Lobby Days Team Dennessa, Leslie Rose, Larry, Isabel, Stephanie and Shea:
Do you want to power your home or business with your EV battery?
Do you want diabetics to have affordable insulin?
Do you want to solve the housing crisis while maintaining local control?
Do you want to limit police stops for minor traffic violations?
Do you think your local maps would benefit from independent redistricting commissions?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we have an easy opportunity for you to create good law for you and all Californians! We invite you to join our team when we urge our legislators to do the right thing and pass these bills.  It is a one-time commitment to join one conversation with state legislators offices during Lobby Days, August 21-25. No experience is necessary — we provide training for whatever role you choose – you don’t even have to speak if you don’t want to! We have roles from speaker to note-taker. It’s also a great chance to peek behind-the-scenes and learn the inner workings of the legislative process. And, to meet some fun and fabulous people at CASS — Indivisible: California StateStrong — the advocacy arm of Indivisible chapters from around the state. As you know, the rule of law impacts our daily lives and Lobby Days provides a front row seat to the action!
Join us today — simply fill out this form and we’ll follow-up and invite you to the training happening August 17th at 5:30pm. Can’t make it? No worries! It will be recorded and we will share the recording afterward.
