Friends,
There’s no such thing as an “Off Year.” Democrats can’t afford to sit back and wait until elections are here. We have to continue to prepare and organize so that our message reaches as many voters as possible. According to Ballot Ready there will be 50,000 statewide and local positions on the ballot on Election Day, November 7th, 2023. Just two days ago, the Supreme Court ruled that private businesses can discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. This is a major step back for LGBTQ+ equality in America, and it’s shameful that so many on the right, including Senator Josh Hawley, are celebrating this dangerous decision.

If you live in the Missouri 6th Congressional District, tell Same Graves to credit President Biden and Democrats for securing this funding.

Josh Hawley Gets an “F” in American HistoryThe senator from Missouri is spreading misinformation about the past in order to put a Christian nationalist spin on the present Josh Hawley has a history degree from Stanford, where he wrote a thesis on the righteousness of Theodore Roosevelt, graduated with honors, and was remembered as “a serious scholar of the Constitution.” It’s reasonable, then, to assume that he is familiar with the basic premises of the American experiment. Yet Hawley is also a Republican politician in the era that has seen his party mount a determined assault on the honest teaching of American history about everything from race to foreign policy. Today, the Biden administration announced that it would automatically forgive $39 billion in student debt for 804,000 borrowers. The relief is a result of fixes to the student loan system’s income-driven repayment plans. Under those repayment plans, borrowers get any remaining debt cancelled by the government after they have made payments for 20 years or 25 years, depending on when they borrowed, and their loan and plan type. The announcement comes weeks after the conservative-majority Supreme Court struck down President Biden’s sweeping student loan forgiveness plan, which would have delivered relief to about 37 million people. The Education Department will notify eligible borrowers in the coming days.

Missouri Democratic Party Statement on Inflation Falling for 12 Straight MonthsInflation hits lowest level in over 2 years Today, the Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Russ Carnahan released the following statement after the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that annual inflation has fallen for 12 months in a row, reaching its lowest level in over 2 years: “Under the Biden-Harris administration’s steady leadership, annual inflation has fallen for 12 straight months, unemployment is at a historic low, and everyday costs are coming down – resounding proof of how Bidenomics is working overtime for Missourians. “While Republicans continue to shill for wealthy corporations shipping jobs overseas and call for MAGA policies that would raise costs for working families, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are focused on continuing to grow Missouri’s economy from the middle out and bottom up – not the top down.” Here’s a glimpse at how Bidenomics is building the economy from the middle out and bottom up, and bringing down costs for American families: Annual inflation has now consistently fallen for 12 months straight, bringing it to its lowest level in more than 2 years.More than 13.2 million jobs have been created, replacing all the jobs lost during the pandemic and creating nearly 4 million more – keeping unemployment under 4% for the longest stretch in over 50 years.More Americans are part of the labor force – the highest share of working-age Americans in the workforce in over 20 years.Wages for the average American worker have risen, with lower wage workers seeing the largest gains.A huge manufacturing boom has spurred more than $503 billion in private sector investments and created over 1.5 million jobs in manufacturing, construction, and research & development.Energy prices are down by more than 16% from their peak after Putin invaded Ukraine. The president’s agenda is lowering prices and saving Americans money on prescription drugs and groceries.
