How do young Dems in Washtenaw find each other? How about at the WCDP’s Young Dems Washtenaw (YDW) mixer on July 17, 6 – 8 pm, at the Downtown A2 library? Come on over for pizza, cookies, and other (even healthier) food and drink, and meet each other and young elected leaders.
Did you know our County Board of Commissioners is already majority millennial, and half of our state reps are millennials as well? Also on library boards, school boards, township boards, city councils – there are lots of young Dems in office!There’s a place for you whether you want to be in elected office, community leadership, Party leadership, or the indispensable volunteer corps. We’ll provide a list of current internship and field work opportunities, and info about how to get involved with your state senator or state rep. They’re all home knocking doors in their districts until the end of August, and are happy to train you in the work.We’re excited to be working with Young Democrats of Michigan (YDM) (a chapter of Young Democrats of America) to launch YDW to engage young Dems 16 – 36.The Downtown branch of the AADL is at 343 S. 5th in A2. Parking on the street is free at 6:00 pm, and public transit is convenient, since the AADL is across Fifth Avenue from the Blake Transit Center on AAATA Bus Routes 3, 4, 5, 6, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 & 33. - JULY 14: Representative Carrie Rheingans (47th District) will host a consituent happy hour on Friday, July 14th from 4:30 – 5:00pm at Zingerman’s Roadhouse in Ann Arbor (2501 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48103). This is a free event! Come learn about all that’s been accomplished in the first 6 months!
- JULY 18: MI Senator Sue Shink (14th District) will be having coffee with constituents on Tuesday, July 18, at 10-11am at
the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor St, Dexter, MI 48130.
- JULY 24: Representative Jason Morgan (23rd District) will host constituent meetings on Monday, July 24, from 5-6pm at The Corner Social 101 S. Lafayette St., South Lyon, MI 48178.

Call to meeting!
On Saturday, September 9, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm, the WCDP will hold a general membership meeting for the purposes of approving bylaws changes and resolutions proposed by members.
You must be a WCDP member for at least 30 days (join or renew byAugust 9) in order to vote in this meeting. Learn about membership and how to join today!
The meeting will be held via Zoom (registration link to be announced later) and in person at the IBEW Hall, at 7920 Jackson Road.
In addition to this business meeting, we will feature a program exploring urban and rural poverty in Washtenaw County. We hope to see you there!
