ACT NOW – Clean Elections Bill Getting Gutted

5 mins read

Action Needed Now!
Save Clean Elections Bill
(SB 1543)

Deadline for passing bill is this Friday night.

Popular “clean elections” legislation (SB 1543) to reduce the influence of money in politics has passed BOTH chambers of the Hawaiʻi Legislature, but Leadership is making a last minute push to water it down and protect the status quo – pushing the start date back to 2028 and limiting it to only one year.

This is urgent. It’s crucial that we permanently remove the influence of money in politics — not just for one year, and not in 5 years…as soon as possible.

Please click here to send an email to Representatives and Senators demanding they establish a permanent full publicly financed election program.

It’s time to fight for this one last time! Money in politics has a corrupting influence and we need to do all we can to end it. We have only until Friday night to create a better bill for a permanent program. It’s crucial that we do all we can to let the legislature now how we feel now.

Please join us in contacting all the Hawai’i state Representatives and Senators in requesting a permanent clean elections program.

Take this action now, because this bill will die if it’s not passed by Friday night!

Mahalo,

Evan Weber
