LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

State Update:

The Senate and the House are each adjourned. They will return on Monday, April 24. Here are their schedules and those of the committees.

If you or a loved one needs access to abortion care or reproductive care, please note that this Pennsylvania government website provides information on providers as well as legal information on your protected rights.

Western PA lawmakers (including WTP endorser Rep. Sara Innamorato) and environmental groups call for accountability from railroads after the Norfolk Southern train derailed in Pittsburgh last Saturday.

Federal Update:

The 99% PA campaign has resumed its standing weekly Zoom meetings on Thursday afternoons. Reach out to Ali at feldman@pennbpc.org.

Pennsylvania’s attorney general Michelle Henry joined her counterparts from 22 other states and DC in urging the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals to keep the abortion pill mifepristone available. Access to mifepristone is particularly critical in low-income, underserved, and rural communities.

WE THE PEOPLE – PA UPDATES

Philadelphia Rally to Raise the Minimum Wage – April 18 at 10:30 a.m.

On April 18th at 10:30 AM, join We The People, POWER, and other allies in Philadelphia to demand the minimum wage be raised to $15 per hour as well as an end to local wage preemption!

We will be outside City Hall on the northwest corner.

Join POWER’s Bishop Royster alongside We The People and other advocates on April 18th at 10:30 a.m. for a rally to raise the minimum wage! For too long, corporate greed has stifled a $15-per-hour minimum wage. Even worse, state laws have prevented Philadelphia from setting its own minimum wage, even when the cost of living is much higher than in other areas of the state. It is time we make our voices heard and fight for a Fair Wage

Our biweekly Capitol Insider Call happens every other Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The next call is Thursday, April 20. Sign up for updates and join our Zoom room or watch us on Facebook Live.
