Tell the Biden administration not to bring back Trump’s asylum ban

Hi Indivisibles,

Our current action has been highlighted by Lawyers for Good Government:

The Biden administration is taking comments from the public about its plan to bring back an asylum ban – a new version of one of the most anti-asylum seeker policies of the Trump era.

The administration is asking the public what we think about this rule and will consider our comments before issuing the final version. Please add your voice to tell them how this rule will harm asylum seekers.”

Below we have links to additional background information and to comment. Plus details on upcoming events.

Tell the Biden administration not to renew Trump’s asylum ban

Commenting can stop the rule. Trump’s asylum bans were heartbreaking and met with outrage. We commented knowing that the Trump administration was unlikely to consider what we said. We have reason to believe that the Biden administration will be far more likely to make changes based on our input. We have until March 27th to object.

Here are some resources to help get informed on the subject and to write an effective comment:

Hosted by TH!RD ACT:
On March 21 gather at Central Park (at 4th & C St) at 11:40am. Bring a sign. We march to Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo (all located together 2 blocks away) for group photos and chants! Then gather at the Davis Public Square beside Baskin Robbins (236 E) for speakers! We return to the banks to witness/cheer as some customers cut up credit cards and close accounts.”
