Tell our Members of Congress: No negotiation with MAGA hostage-takers!

Hi Indivisibles,

Our calls to Members of Congress this week still focus on lifting the debt ceiling without giving in to the MAGA hostage-takers who want to cut the safety net and decimate our economy. Though raising the debt ceiling just allows the U.S. to pay what’s already owed, MAGA extremists are threatening to induce a recession and a global economic crisis by using the debt ceiling as a hostage. Our Members of Congress should not budge a fraction of an inch- and historically, giving in to hostage-takers on this subject has never satisfied them, only encouraged them to more extreme behavior. We’re calling our MoC’s to tell them: no negotiation with hostage-takers!

Call script- To our Members of Congress: don’t negotiate with MAGA hostage-takers- raise the debt ceiling now

California’s 2 Senators:

A lot of Indivisible Yolo members have a new representative! You can find out whether your representative is Rep. Mike Thompson or Rep. Doris Matsui here.

Example call script (your own words are best!):
Hi, my name is [your name] and my zip code is [zip code]. I’m a voter and a constituent of [Sen. Feinstein/Sen. Padilla/Rep. Thompson/Rep. Matsui] and I am asking the [Senator/Representative] to demand their Republican colleagues lift the debt ceiling now, without conditions. MAGA extremists are taking the economy hostage and using it to try to force cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and more. Will the [Senator/Representative] commit to demanding a clean debt ceiling increase without giving an inch to the MAGA hostage-takers?
