It’s MLK, Jr. Day!

7 mins read

This year on January 16th, MLK Day, California Poor People’s Campaign will be honoring Dr. King’s legacy by hosting readings of the PPC 3rd Reconstruction Agenda. This is part of the launch of our new Third Reconstruction Agenda campaign: Close the Wealth Gap, CA!

We invite you to join us this Monday at 3pm for a statewide reading of the Agenda. We will share stories about the impact of the wealth gap on our lives and communities, as well as what difference having the political will to adopt and implement the comprehensive campaign demands will make, for all of us. Please RSVP to let us know you’re coming.

We look forward to working with you to Close the Wealth Gap in 2023!

Forward together,
California Poor People’s Campaign

ACTIONS TO TAKE MONDAY (email) & TUESDAY (call)! The GOP’s first bill is its most important – “It’s a giant tax cut for rich tax cheats,” while adding to the deficit.

The GOP is in a battle for hearts and minds by using fear and misinformation. Even though President Biden will assuredly veto this toxic bill that protects the rich and corporations, their poisonous rhetoric is spreading.
Call your senators and tell them to oppose this bill and to work on solutions that actually help the low- and middle-class.
Then, share the truth behind the GOP’s bill with your friends, relatives and neighbors, especially those in RED states.

EMERGENCY! Wall Street’s privatization of Medicare at our expense is starting now!

The GOP ended 2022 with threats to hold debt ceiling legislation hostage in order to savage Social Security and other safety-net programs.

However, the destruction of Medicare is already taking place, off-stage, with corporate entities lining up at the trough of the poisonous ACO-REACH program. Tell Biden to executive order this out of existence and make sure your legislators know you are wise to this threat.

Please DONATE to the cause!
Indivisible Ventura is completely volunteer run and your donation will support the direct costs of organizing in Ventura — things like expenses for Swap Meet Justice, posters, art supplies, stamps, transportation, and more! Although we’ve defeated Trump and taken back the Senate, we have to act urgently to save our democracy and enact other desperately needed reforms. Getting it done depends on all of us. Let’s stand together, indivisible. Indivisible Ventura is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country. Together, we will win. (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ven383907253)
