EVENTS HAPPENING SOON!

Thursday – 12/15/2022 – OXNARD – “CFROG – Make a comment at the hearing on drilling planned for the in Lemonwood neighborhood” (starts at 8:30 am PT) Board of Supervisors Hearing Room – 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura

ABA Energy Corporation has been approved to re-drill 23 oil wells in the Lemonwood community in Oxnard. CFROG was able to appeal the approval of 2 of these wells and we are asking you to help spread the word in the Lemonwood community!

Tell Ventura County that the rubber stamping of wells located close to homes and a school is unacceptable! (The operator has formally admitted that this run on permits is an attempt to rush the wells through before January 1st, when SB 1137 is implemented and would prohibit these wells. SB 1137 is the state law that required 3,200 ft between oil wells and homes, schools, and hospitals.)

Make a comment or sent a comment letter.

ACTIONS! Our legislators are running out of time to get important stuff passed!

Tell Congress to stop the real steal before the House goes red! Corporations are robbing BILLIONS from their employees and, yeah, they even want a tax break, as well!

The real grinch isn’t a green-furred creature contemplating the theft of Christmas joy from one little town. It’s a platoon of corporate leaders, protected by GOP legislators and judges, who slowly drain American workers of their fair wages – causing severe hardship for those least able to advocate for themselves. We’re talking billions of dollars! More than all types of property theft combined! Year-round. In almost every industry. Nationwide!

Before the House goes red, and starts their ceremonial impeachment of President Biden and grilling of his son, let’s get something done that helps an immense number of people. Ask our legislators to pass the Wage Theft Prevention and Wage Recovery Act

Last day for Actions #1 and 2 tomorrow (Thursday)! (3) Energy actions: Local, state and federal.

If you accidentally signed the petition that would overturn SB1137, the new law requiring a 3200’ setback between people and oil production, thinking it was FOR the setback, you can remove your signature! Instructions are in the action, but you must do so tonight or tomorrow.

Legislators! Raise or eliminate the debt ceiling, then put up guardrails to protect our democracy!

Want to prevent the destruction of our social safety net?
– Want prevent another Jan. 6th?
– Want to prevent a government stocked top to bottom with idiots from Trump’s circle of family and friends, along with a waiting list of far-right political operatives?

Then you’re going to have to call AND email your congressmembers and tell them we expect them to stay in D.C. until these threats are addressed.

Velma Lomax is retiring!

“Tonight will be her last meeting as a trustee of the Ventura Unified School District after 29 years of service.
Velma has earned the love, respect and gratitude of so many people because she gives so much of herself. She will be missed. And, in true Velma fashion she doesn’t want gifts or flowers, but is asking for donations to help a deserving VUSD student and his family.

Tell Paul Whelan he hasn’t been forgotten!

“One last thing: we’re finally celebrating Brittney Griner’s return to American soil. My MSNBC colleague Ayman Mohyeldin wrote this incredibly thoughtful thread on Twitter (https://twitter.com/AymanM/status/1602002798798938113), explaining why criticism of the deal that brought Griner home is misplaced. You may find his analysis helpful for discussing this situation with family members over the holidays.

But former Marine Paul Whelan is not yet home. Nor are other Americans in the custody of Russia and other foreign countries. Sunday morning on Face the Nation, former National Security Council advisor Fiona Hill related that while there was a potential deal on the table to bring home Whelan, who Russia arrested on suspicion of espionage in 2018, Trump wasn’t “particularly interested” in his plight. These issues seem to matter more to Biden, who in April secured the release of Trevor Reed, who had been in Russian custody for three years.

When you’re sending out your holiday cards, or even if you aren’t, consider sending one to Paul Whelan, who is spending his fifth Christmas in a Russian prison. It’s an important way to show him that he isn’t forgotten and to let the administration know there’s support for bringing him home.

Help local teacher fund projects for their students.

There are a number of classroom projects for schools near you!.

Indivisible Ventura is completely volunteer run and your donation will support the direct costs of organizing in Ventura — things like expenses for Swap Meet Justice, posters, art supplies, stamps, transportation, and more! Although we’ve defeated Trump and taken back the Senate, we have to act urgently to save our democracy and enact other desperately needed reforms. Getting it done depends on all of us. Let’s stand together, indivisible. Indivisible Ventura is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country. Together, we will win. (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ven383907253)
