Once again: Congress, stay in session!
This weekend, Trump called to terminate the Constitution and put him back into power, plainly stating his belief, shared by MAGA supporters, that he should be installed as the fascist leader of a United States that has no laws other than his personal whims. His party comes into power in the House in less than a month, and they are openly bragging that they will use whatever methods they can to cut Social Security and Medicare, halt investigations of Trump’s criminal wrongdoing, and harm immigrants, LGBTQ people, and women.
This week we are once again telling our members of Congress to stay in session, and use every remaining minute of the Democratic trifecta to pass legislation we need now and to reduce the harm Republicans can do in January. We have a narrow window in this Congress to mitigate the harm being done from overturning Roe. And unless we take away their leverage right now, Republicans will be able to use must-pass legislation in the next session as a hostage to extract concessions. We’ll also need to lift the debt ceiling and pass an appropriations omnibus before the next session so that Republicans can’t attach harmful measures to this must-pass legislation. (Details about the Indivisible final session priorities can be found here: https://www.indivisible.org/resource/2022-final-legislative-session)
Call scripts are below, as well as link for last-chance phone banks for Sen. Raphael Warnock’s campaign. Runoff voting for the Senate seat in Georgia ends at 4pm PST Tuesday. A 51 seat Democratic majority would take away Republicans’ current power to slow-walk Democratic nominees (including any Supreme Court or other judicial nominations), and also prevent a single conservative Democrat like Senator Manchin or Sinema from unilaterally blocking nominations and legislation.
Help us send Reverend Raphael Warnock back to the Senate! Georgia’s runoff election is December 6, 2022, so there is no time to waste!

Sample Call Script:
Hi, my name is [name]. I’m a voter and a [constituent of Senator Feinstein/Sen. Padilla/Rep. Garamendi/Rep. Matsui]/[will be a constituent of Rep. Thompson next session]. My zip code is [zip code]. I’m calling to ask the [Senator/Representative] to stay in session 7 days a week to use every last minute of our Democratic trifecta. And please use this chance to reduce the harm being done from overturning Roe by including provisions to protect abortion rights and mitigate harm from abortion restrictions in any must-pass legislation this session.
Please lift the debt ceiling so Republicans don’t have a hostage to take next year–threatening Social Security, Medicare and the entire global economy. Please pass an appropriations omnibus before Republicans take control of the House. We can’t let Republicans use must-pass legislation as hostage taking opportunity next Congress. Thank you.
