Support The Do No Harm Act
In the years since the Religious Freedom Restoration Act was enacted in 1993, the far-right has been misusing it to weaponize religion. Today the law is being insidiously used to undermine nondiscrimination laws and to manipulate our country’s longstanding definition of religious freedom–a freedom that should ensure all people can practice their faith or philosophy, so long as they do not inflict harm on others.
Companies, individuals, and taxpayer-funded organizations–from foster care agencies to universities–have used religion as a sword against LGBTQ people, women, religious minorities, and nontheists, often when they are seeking public services or healthcare.
The American Humanist Association has never tolerated such harm, and now is our chance to make sure that no one can deny others a public service, a fair wage, reproductive healthcare, and so much more by claiming religious exemptions.
The Do No Harm Act would restore the do no harm principle of the First Amendment to make sure no one can use their religion as an excuse to justify discrimination and deny people their civil rights.

A Poem By Indivisible FL-13 Co-organizer Cynthia Lippert
He knows for many, finding an affordable home is a hopeless expectation.
Why does he disregard that fact while exclaiming : “Florida – the freest state in our nation,”
He knows many schools lack adequate certified teachers and staff,
Why does he deflect by claiming some school text books belong in the trash?
He knows citizens are burdened by soaring home and flood insurance rates, Why did he delay legislative relief for home owners until help was too late?
He knows that guns are causing death, violence and serious harm,
Why does he deny it is about bullets but rather the freedom to bear arms?
He knows they fear the Covid virus and are unsure what to do next,
Why did he dictate that following medical science was too much to expect?
He knows they will vote for a government which will improve their daily lives. So he deploys election police, redraws maps and declares that fraud thrives.
He believes that LGQBT letters should not be uttered in any school house, Why did he deliver a retaliatory blow to the jaw of our Disney mouse?
When he disagreed with our elected official’s policy, belief or statement, Why did he devise a strategy to remove him and appoint an “ R” replacement?
He knows history has shown these “D” tactics effectively control the masses, No need to solve problems if he keeps them divided , angry and impassive.
Distracting, Deflecting Denying , Delaying , Dictating,Deploying ,Dividing All Floridians deserve solutions; not one man’s dogma and tactics.
Now it is Your Decision 2022 ….. Vote Blue!
Yom Kippur Social Justice Forum 2022:
Reproductive Rights are Human Rights
Temple Beth-El’s Social Justice Committee presents Yom Kippur Social Justice Forum 2022: Reproductive Rights are Human rights.
Wednesday, October 5 in the APR (All Purpose Room) from 2pm to 3:30pm.
This year’s Social Justice Forum is a reflection on how we are all impacted by access to reproductive health care, albeit in different ways. Let’s explore traditional wisdom on reproductive health and the ongoing work in the political and religious worlds vis-a-vis advocating for just access, all the while knowing that our own stories matter. Your story matters.
Amy Weintraub, our Guest Speaker, is the Reproductive Rights Program Director for Progress Florida and chairs the Reproductive Rights Task Force for Florida NOW. A seasoned organizer, Amy has worked most of her adult life identifying, educating, and activating citizens toward social justice. Amy lives in St. Petersburg with her husband; they have two children in college.
