Dear Friends,
I had an informative call with Ginny Diamond, of NOVA Labor, yesterday. I was particularly interested in how we could support Starbucks Workers United. Starbucks Workers United is requesting that you visit one or more of the 13 Virginia unionized STARBUCKS stores and let the workers know that you support them and have their backs. Identify yourself, order your drink with the name Union Strong, and leave a nice cash tip. I’m going over to Gallows & Gatehouse this week and plan to get out to Sterling and Leesburg in the upcoming weeks. Where can you visit? See the list of unionized Starbucks below
We have some making good trouble events in this next week as well as several to note on your September calendar. Enjoy your read today, and get out there and make some good trouble.
ALL IN,
Stair

Rideshare2Vote is again offering free rides to the polls for Democrats in Virginia. They try to service any voter from any area of the state, yet primary focus is in Northern Virginia on down to Fredericksburg, the Charlottesville area, Richmond and surrounding counties, and the Tidewater area. They had many more ride requests than drivers in these critical areas in 2021 and want to be fully prepared to drive every voter in November 2022! Training is available to drivers on their smartphone app that connects drivers and voters and directs the drivers to the correct pickup and voting locations – trainings are held online throughout the summer. We will drive for at least 1 week of early voting plus election day, November 8. Please help us make sure no Democratic voter gets left behind! Register to volunteer as a driver, phone banker, or dispatch operator HERE. Contact: Tracy Scott – 713.922.0955. Tracy.Scott@RideShare2Vote.com

GOING BLUER & BETTER – Democrats in Action
On this week’s Friday Power Lunch, we will be discussing how we need to go bluer, be better at explaining all that Democrats have accomplished, and be bolder and more vigilant in getting our message out to voters.
We will start the show with a conversation with Del. Marcus Simon (HD 53) who will tell us about the new voting rights legislation that was enacted.
Then we’ll hear from Matt Caffrey (Swing Left) who will tell us about Swing Left’s national midterm strategy and what they’re doing in Virginia. He’ll also tell us about their big August 9th event that will get you feeling that not only is the blue wave alive but growing bigger and stronger. This event will lift your heart knowing that the anti-MAGA majority is activated and getting out the vote.
We’ll end with a spotlight on Loudoun county’s upcoming effort to knock 40,000 doors in one weekend. This is a joint grassroots effort among groups large and small. To hear about the excitement and energy emanating from Loudoun, we’ll hear from Barbara Jones (Loudoun Grassroots Coalition), Lissa Savaglio (Loudoun County Democratic Committee), and Kristin Gorczyk (Together We Will Loudoun).
See you on Friday where we’re going bluer & better because Democrats are activated and mobilized!

With the fall of Roe v. Wade, the Repro Movement is more energized than ever to help Virginians across the state access abortion care. With threats from the Governor Glenn Youngkin to attack abortion rights and limit access, we are gathering in Alexandria to have a discussion about how you can fight back against anti-abortion attacks and help people access abortion care in Virginia.
After the panel discussion, there will be a tabling event with community allies and reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations that you can connect with and learn more about Northern Virginia’s repro movement. REGISTER HERE

Training: You and the 34%: How to Connect with High-Potential Voters
In 2020, 34% of eligible voters didn’t vote. In this training, you will learn how to make “I don’t vote” the beginning of the conversation, not the end. Dr. Jacqueline Tulsky and Elizabeth Chur share stories of success, and give you tools drawn from Motivational Interviewing to help you draw out “high-potential voters,” elicit their desires for change, and turn them into voters. Whether you’re new to canvassing and phone-banking or have been doing it for years, this interactive training is designed for you.
Led by: Jacqueline Tulsky, MD, an HIV primary care and addiction medicine specialist and Motivational Interviewing trainer. Elizabeth Chur, an experienced phone banker and canvasser who trained hundreds of volunteers in 2020 through Swing Left San Francisco. Her workshops have included Phone Bank Training for Introverts and Spanish for Phone Banking.
