Progressive Actions for
These Crucial Times

This email outlines a number of actions that you can take over the next few week to help save our Democracy.

Thurs, June 2nd, 7 pm ET

Trump and his extremist allies continue to wage a campaign to undermine American democracy and attack our freedom to vote.

Meanwhile, we’re getting closer to the House January 6th Committee’s public hearings – which will expose the full extent of their attempt to subvert the 2020 election.

The January 6th Hearings will start on June 9.

If you want to get a preview of the hearings and to learn how we can hold Trump and his allies accountable, join our movement briefing.

As we enter the final stretch to the hearings, the committee’s plans are coming into focus — but so are attempts by Trump’s Republicans to twist the narrative and escape accountability.

RSVP right away and learn what you need to know to hold the January 6th insurrectionists accountable >>

The hearings are about more than just the people that stormed the Capitol or chanted “Hang Mike Pence” that day.

They’re focused on accountability for the “white collar insurrectionists” — people, like Donald Trump and his allies in Congress, who enabled the attackers and planned, funded, and spread misinformation to incite that day’s violence.

At the June 2 event, you’ll hear from:

  • David Crosby, Musician/Activist and a two time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee with Crosby, Stills & Nash, and The Byrds.
  • Helen Butler, Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda Executive Director
  • Ciara Torres-Spelliscy, CREW Board of Directors
  • Noah Bookbinder, CREW President and Chief Executive Officer

Please watch the January 6th Hearings with your family members and friends. We need everyone to learn the truth about Trump Republicans.

Trump Republicans are waging an ongoing campaign to sabotage American elections and attack our freedom to vote.

They engaged in a criminal conspiracy in an attempt to overturn the 2020 Election and incited the violent attack on our country on January 6th.

For the past year, a bipartisan House Committee has been investigating the January 6th attack on our democracy and the continuing threats to our elections.

On June 9, they will begin public hearings to reveal the truth to the American People.

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol will hold a series of hearings on the probe in June, Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said.

There will be as many as eight hearings, the first on June 9, with some scheduled for prime time and others during the day, he said.

Thompson told reporters as he left the Capitol on Thursday that the public will hear from outside witnesses, people “we’ve not heard from before,” adding that “their testimony will be on point as to why this investigation was so important.”

“We’ll tell the story about what happened,” he said. “We will use a combination of witnesses, exhibits, things that we have through the tens of thousands of exhibits we’ve interviewed and looked at, as well as the, you know, hundreds of witnesses we’ve deposed or just talked to in general.”Thompson also told reporters that the committee will ask at least three GOP lawmakers by the end of the week to come before the committee, including Republicans serving in both the House and Senate.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a key member of the committee, said last week that the hearings will be dramatic and include explosive revelations that the panel has been piecing together behind the scenes for months after interviewing more than 800 witnesses.

“The hearings will tell a story that will really blow the roof off the House,” Raskin said at an event hosted by Georgetown University’s Center on Faith and Justice in Washington.

The committee aims to release a report on its investigation by the end of the summer or early fall, Raskin said.

“This was not a coup directed at the president,” Raskin said. “It was a coup directed by the president against the vice president and against the Congress.

With everything going on in the world, it would be easy for people who aren’t as engaged in politics to block out the hearings.

It would be very easy for them to simply not learn the truth about this major attack on our democracy or continued threats to our right to determine the future of our country.

That’s why we need  to make sure these hearings break through the busy news cycle and reach the American public! It’s the only way to hold Trump Republicans accountable.

There are watch events scheduled all around the country. Check out the full list of events and find one that interests you!

However, no watch events have yet been scheduled in Hawaii, so … please watch the network schedules to view these hearings on June 9 at 1:30 PM HST.
