Our winning ways: On the doors
What’s better than a brisk walk on a warm sunny day? How about a brisk walk on a warm sunny day in the company of smart, like-minded people winning votes and advancing progressive values? It’s canvassing season and we’re hitting the doors for our endorsed candidates:
- State rep Delia Ramirez, in the newly mapped 3rd congressional district, a longtime community activist and a proven legislator. Wednesday May 25, Saturday May 28, and Saturday June 4.
- Kina Collins, a nationally recognized leader in gun-violence prevention endorsed by Justice Democrats, Sunrise Movement, and other progressive leaders. Saturday May 28 and Saturday June 4.
We specialize in turning first-timers into cool, confident canvassers. We’ll train you up, answer all your questions, and connect you with a veteran door-knocker who will walk with you and show you the ropes. Just say “I’m a rookie” and we’ll take care of the rest.

We’re also working the phones for Kina and Delia on alternate Tuesday nights, and for
- Wisconsin Dems: On Wednesdays we’re calling to get rid of Ron Johnson and protect Governor Tony Evers by encouraging and helping Democratic-leaning voters to apply for their absentee ballots.
- Indivisible Chicago: On Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings we’re calling fellow members to crank them up for election season. These are easy, friendly calls, a perfect way for beginners and introverted activists to get started.

One of the most popular and effective programs we know is the Milwaukee Voter Project, which registers new voters in state motor vehicle offices. The people are waiting in queue, with all their IDs handy, and often happy to talk. Volunteers are thoroughly trained, out of the weather, and close to bathrooms! And beefing up Milwaukee’s voter rolls is a great way to counter the gerrymandering and election chicanery that our Republican friends practice elsewhere in the state.
