North Carolina

Last week, a three-judge panel ruled that Republican maps did not violate the state’s constitution and can be used in the 2022 elections. Yet they also ruled that those same maps are “incompatible with democratic principles and subject our state to ridicule.” The same three-judge panel (2 Rs, 1 D) upheld gerrymandered maps last year. The NC Supreme Court will now decide.

New Hampshire

In light of the recent NH state legislature’s approval of gerrymandered congressional maps that give an unfair partisan advantage to the Republican party, shifting gears to work on voter protection, engagement, and getting positive messages out to voters.

Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that a “least changes” approach should be taken in the creation of a new state legislative map. What that neutral-sounding phrase means is that the new map must start with the existing map, considered by many the most horribly gerrymandered state legislative map in the country.  Fighting back means reaching and mobilizing Democratic voters in all corners of the state. Citizen Action WI has a deep canvassing phone program to do this.  Please join them! Sign up here.

Pennsylvania

In 2020, a number of Vermonters, several in leadership positions, worked on the PA Dems Voter Assistance Hotline, the busiest voter hotline in the country! We are already working closely with the new voter protection team in PA.

To join either the WI or PA teams, please contact Ann Smith. As part of the team, you will receive:
