the greatest test of our democracy since the Civil War.

Lean Left Vermont’s team is gathering to work together and win in the November midterm election.
Our four target states — North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — are critical. All of them are struggling with voter suppression and need to elect Senators and Congressional representatives, flip their legislatures, and in the case of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania keep Democratic governors.
To do this hard election work, people around Vermont are organizing Good Trouble Cafes with friends and neighbors who are committed to working together on a regular basis and who will provide support and share information and experiences.
What is happening on the ground also requires money. Lean Left’s Giving Circles provide a way people learn about and give money to groups working on the ground in our target states. (See our Monthly Beneficiary below!)
Voter protection and engagement and support of selected candidates up and down the ballot will again be at the core of what we do, but the 2022 midterms must be about listening to voters and providing them with information about policies that affect their lives. To this end, we will be working with our state partners in talking to voters about issues and providing them with what has already been accomplished and what can be accomplished if we elect people who are actually interested in the health and welfare of our nation. We must give people a message that makes it worth coming out to vote, makes it worth staying engaged in democracy.

Taking on Disinformation, Fighting the LiesThursday

On January 6, 2022, Defenders of Democracy Against Disinformation, Lean Left Vermont, Hear Yourself Think, and many other co-sponsoring grassroots groups invite you to mark the one-year anniversary of the attack on the Capitol and take action to protect our democracy from attacks to come.
Republicans have made clear that they plan to use disinformation as a tactic in the 2022 midterms. Learn how you can counter lies about election fraud, candidates, and more. The focus will be on countering one of the most significant sources of disinformation that created the conditions for the Jan. 6 attack. Highlights:Begins on Jan. 6, 2022, at 7 pm ET when, in 2021, Facebook closed Donald Trump’s account. Keynote video from Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD), manager of the 2nd Trump impeachment and member of the House Select Committee on Jan. 6.Breakout sessions with live training on actions to reduce the normalization and revenue of Fox News. Concludes at 8 pm ET when, in 2021, the Capitol Police declared the Capitol secure.
