Call scripts for our Members of Congress
Zoom link for Monday, March 29th General Meeting at 7pm

Hi Indivisibles,

Thanks for all of the calls and emails that you have been making to our Members of Congress. You are making a difference as evidenced by Senator Feinstein’s recent statement that she is open to reform of the filibuster to counter GOP abuse of this tactic. We must push her harder to make her understand that she must end the filibuster if that’s what it takes to pass S1, the For the People Act.

And don’t forget: the General Meeting is online tonight, March 29th, at 7pm. Hope to see you there!

Check out our event calendar at for virtual events and actions, including Action Coffee on Mondays and the Fixing our Democracy Action Hour- now on Sundays at 5pm.

Our virtual General Meeting is TONIGHT: 7pm Monday, March 29th.
We plan to present amendments to the bylaws for membership approval and consider a nominee for steering committee. The proposed amendments will deal with the frequency of membership meetings and the number of positions on the steering committee. You can join at 7pm using the link HERE.

Text: Fixing our democracy. Volunteers needed. Blueprint provided. Action Hours: New time! 5pm on Sundays on Zoom. Images are of the Indivisible Yolo logo and of a stylized silhouette of the Capitol building in white on a blue blueprint paper style background.

Our six week series delving into the new Indivisible Guide has concluded – but there is still plenty of fixing of our democracy left to do, so we are extending Action Hour through the rest of the first 100 days of the Biden administration. It’s still every Sunday, but now at a new (and we hope more convenient) time: 5pm. We’ll review democracy reform developments and continue to give you directions each week on an easy action to take to persuade our elected officials to enact the key democracy reforms in the new Indivisible guide.
The next Action Hour is at 5pm Sunday. Slides, action scripts, a tally sheet to track your actions, and the Zoom link can be found at:

Urge Senator Feinstein to expedite the advance of S.1 and advocate for its passage

Sample Call Script for Sen. FEINSTEIN:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, zip code].
I’m calling to thank Senator Feinstein for defending our democracy and supporting passage of S.1- the For the People Act. I urge her to expedite the advance of S.1 through the Senate Rules Committee to a full Senate Vote without delay.

We know Republicans are pushing an avalanche of state bills attacking voting rights and voter freedoms across the nation. S.1 – the For the People Act – is the legislation we need now to fight back against these attacks on our democracy and strengthen voting rights for all US citizens.

Attacks on S.1 by Republican members of the Rules Committee make clear their reluctance to work with Democrats to ensure fair elections, or pass the bills needed to preserve and protect voter rights for all Americans. There is little doubt that Mitch McConnell will use the filibuster to kill S.1 once it leaves committee to further delay a full Senate vote.

It’s time for Senator Feinstein to fully commit to taking whatever legislative action is needed to pass S.1 and other critical legislation to protect our democracy. Please tell Senator Feinstein that the time has come to promptly advance S.1 out of committee and end the filibuster if that is what’s required to ensure it’s passage.

If you get a staffer: Please have your office get back to me on where Senator Feinstein stands on eliminating the filibuster. My phone number is [phone number] and my email address is [email].

Thank Senator Padilla & urge him to do more

Sample Call Script:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I’m a constituent from [CITY, zip code].
I thank Senator Padilla and the members of the Senate Rules Committee for taking up S.1- the For the People Act- so quickly. This critical election and democracy reform bill is needed NOW. Only Federal regulations on campaign finance, ethics, and election policy can put a stop to the avalanche of anti-voting bills being pushed by state level Republicans.

I encourage Senator Padilla to help expedite the Rules Committee hearings so S.1 can proceed to a floor vote by the full Senate without delay. I thank him for his call to end the filibuster, to ensure that the vote on S.1 is not blocked once again.

Unless the Senate ends the filibuster, we cannot defend against partisan attacks on our democracy. I’m glad Senator Padilla agrees with this – and I urge him to do everything he can to also convince Senator Feinstein that the filibuster has got to go. Thank you.
