We have finally reached the end of this year, 2020. It felt like we would never get here. It has been a year of ongoing economic hardships and tragic loss. It has also been a year of coming together, supporting one another, remembering what is important and~deep sigh of relief~an end to this monstrous presidency, a return to sanity and an end to everyday, all-day breaking news (can we retire “unprecedented” now?).
These four years have outraged us, saddened us, even–tragically– killed far too many of us. But, also, these years have brought us together. They have taught us how to not only weather the storm together, but to harness the energy and be the storm. We have grown our ranks, and strengthened our commitment to a clean planet, fair, equitable and just treatment for all people, affordable healthcare, criminal justice reform, and good schools and roads.
I hope 2021 brings an end to this pandemic, an end to this paralyzing division, drives white supremacism and misogyny back into oblivion where they belong, and reunites us with the world community and each other.
We wish you and your families good health, peace and a wonderful holiday. Rest up, stay safe, enjoy your holidays and LET’S GET BACK TO WORK! As we learned in 2016, we can never, ever be complacent. I am looking so forward to working with you all and turning all of Oakland County blue up and down the ballot!
Happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
