Hello friends,
With just one day left before the last votes in Maine can be cast, Mainers are getting out the vote for progressive candidates up and down the ballot. As of last week, more than half a million people had already voted in Maine, a record for early turnout. In the last hours before polls close, there are a few things you can do to help bring the change we need in the White House and Senate and keep our majorities in the U.S. House and Maine Legislature:
- GOTV. Today is our last chance to turn out the vote for the candidates we support. There’s still time to sign up to canvass, call, and/or text voters. Find a time that fits your schedule in our GOTV action guide.
- RETURN YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT.Still have your absentee ballot? Return it ASAP to your town clerk or to a drop box at your town office. Your town clerk must receive your ballot by 8PM ON ELECTION DAY.
- REGISTER TO VOTE. Still need to register to vote? You can do that at your town office today or at the polls on Election Day. Visit our Voting FAQ for a list of what to bring with you.
- PREPARE FOR THE POLLS.If you’re planning to vote at the polls, your polling location may have changed. Call your town clerk or find your polling location HERE. Plan for longer-than-usual lines in colder-than-usual temps (high 20s to upper 30s). If you witness voter intimidation or have safety concerns while waiting at the polls, seek out the poll warden at your polling location and call one of the voter hotlines below.
- BE READY TO MOBILIZE. Election results aren’t final until every vote is counted. In some swing states, that process likely won’t be concluded Tuesday night. Should Trump follow through on his threat to declare victory before all votes are counted or if he refuses to accept the results should he lose, we will mobilize to demand that every vote be counted.
