From the WCDP Chair: You Can Make a Difference

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that, in these uncertain times, we need the best possible elected officials at ALL levels of government to lead us to a better future. That means that elections matter now even more than usual. Toward that end, the Washtenaw County Democratic Party (WCDP) is hyper-focused on getting out the vote (GOTV) for our candidates in 2020. A very big part of that is our Voter Guide.

Our Precinct Organizing Committee has made nearly 70,000 voter contacts in the past few months, largely educating people on how to make sure their vote counts when they are voting by mail. That team has engaged over 400 volunteers and put in place a sustainable countywide structure that will pay massive dividends now and into the future for our GOTV program.

As I mentioned, we are also distributing our super-popular Voter Guide again this year and, as in past years, our volunteers will be at the polls on Election Day distributing Poll Greeter cards with our endorsed candidates. Both of these efforts are a key component to our GOTV efforts and we know they work.

However, our ability to fundraise has been sharply curtailed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of our traditional, in-person Annual Dinner that raises tens of thousands of dollars, we are compelled to do a number of smaller events and direct asks like this one to raise the $25,000 we need to print and distribute the Voter Guide and to fund the Poll Greeter program.

Please help us save the Voter Guide and achieve our goal by making a donation at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/vg20 today.

Thank you for all you do.

In solidarity,
Chris Savage
WCDP Chair
