LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. — Indivisible Kentucky, one of the Commonwealth’s leading political activist organizations, announced their endorsement of Mike Broihier’s candidacy for United States Senate at a joint press conference held on Monday. Indivisible Kentucky is dedicated to holding public officials accountable and to resisting Senator Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump’s agenda.

“Our board chose to endorse Mike Broihier because we feel very strongly that he can beat Mitch McConnell by energizing Kentuckians who are looking for someone to represent the people of Kentucky”, said Sharon Fleck, Co-Chairperson of Indivisible Kentucky. “Mike’s policies reflect the values and interests of Indivisible Kentucky as well as, we believe, those of the majority of Kentuckians,” said Fleck.

In a poll following Indivisible Northern Kentucky’s March 5 Senate Candidate Forum, 88% of viewers who watched the forum said that they would have voted for Broihier if the election were held that night.

“Indivisible Kentucky’s endorsement of our movement means the world to me, and shows that our movement is headed in the right direction,” said Broihier. “Make no mistake – where Indivisible goes, so go the engaged voters and activists of Kentucky. They are one of the major Democratic gatekeepers in the Commonwealth as far as I’m concerned, and with their support I am confident that we will continue to raise the level of debate here in Kentucky.”

“Whether it’s plans to close the racial wealth gap, fight for a living wage for Kentucky workers, ensure every Kentuckian has healthcare, or a host of other policy plans,” said Indivisible Kentucky board member Kimberly Cecil-Jones, “we believe Mike Broihier can beat Mitch McConnell by putting the people of Kentucky first.”

Broihier’s campaign also expressed the need for a debate between Broihier and McGrath to illustrate key differences between the two candidates before voters select a nominee in June. Indivisible Kentucky offered to host that debate.

“It has become clear to me that Kentucky Democrats deserve a conversation about who would be the best candidate to face Mitch McConnell this November,” said Broihier. “That is why I am issuing a challenge to Amy McGrath. Let’s have a debate so that voters can be informed when they cast their ballots in the June primary.”

Indivisible Kentucky joins regional Indivisible chapters all across Kentucky — including Indivisible Northern Kentucky, Indivisible Southeast Kentucky, and Indivisible Pennyroyal — in endorsing Mike Broihier.
