What’s the difference between Poll Worker & Poll Watcher?
Poll Worker:
Nonpartisan, Paid (Clerks, Judges, Inspectors, Checker, Precinct Worker)
Poll Watcher:
Partisan, Volunteer (Observers, Monitors, Challengers)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to be a poll worker Must be 18+, registered to vote in Utah, a resident of the county for the 30 days prior to election Must complete required training. To sign up, contact your county clerks.
HOW POLL WORKERS ARE CHOSEN:
By April 1 of each even-numbered year each registered political party files list of eligible candidates & each county legislative body appoints election judges from the lists. For each set of 3 judges to be appointed for each voting precinct, county legislative body shall ensure that 2 judges are appointed from political party that cast highest number of votes for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state auditor & state treasurer, excluding votes for unopposed candidates, in voting precinct at last regular general election before appointment of election judges & 1 judge is appointed from political party with 2nd-highest number of votes.

POLL WATCHER INFO
Any individual may become a watcher in an election at any time by registering as a watcher with the administering election officer. A person that is a candidate whose name will appear on the ballot, a qualified write-in candidate for the election, a registered political party, or a political issues committee may certify an individual as an official watcher for the person.
Who is Authorized to Challenge a Voter’s Eligibility on Election Day?
A poll worker, a watcher, or an individual who lives in the voting precinct may challenge an individual’s eligibility to vote in that voting precinct or in that election.
