What’s the difference between Poll Worker & Poll Watcher?
Poll Worker:
Nonpartisan, Paid (Clerks, Judges, Inspectors, Checker, Precinct Worker)
Poll Watcher:
Partisan, Volunteer (Observers, Monitors, Challengers)
OREGON
Oregon has a vote-by-mail process & does not have many traditional polling places that require staffing by poll workers. BUT, there are still jobs to be had.
To sign up contact your local Board of Elections.
Election board
Work as part of team opening & inspecting ballots to be counted. Board members work 4 days; first 3 days you work 8 hours. Election Day work from 12 to 14 hours.
Requirements: Sitting for long hours. Repetitive hand motion. Paying attention to details.
Ballot Pick Up Driver
Work in 2 person team to pick up ballots at county drop sites & deliver to Elections office. May be required during the 2 weeks before Election Day.
Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs, have own vehicle & valid Oregon Driver’s license.
Runner
Assist in office to retrieve & lift trays of ballots between tables & storage bins. Trays can weigh up to 15lbs.
Requirements: 4 days of work. Lifting Trays of Ballots. Physical work.
Drop Site Closer
Work in a 2 person team to collect ballots from drop site at 8 PM Election Day.
Requirements: Work approximately 2 hours. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
