Election Day- THIS Saturday, Nov 16.

Today’s Action:

Another School Shooting. How many more students must die before the Senate acts?

  • Sen. Bill Cassidy – DC OFFICE: (202) 224-5824 and METAIRIE OFFICE: (504) 838-0130
  • Sen. John Kennedy: DC OFFICE: (202) 224-4623 and NEW ORLEANS OFFICE (504) 581-6190
  • Rep. Scalise: (202) 225-3015; Rep. Richmond: (202) 225-6636

2 dead, at least 4 injured in a Los Angeles high school on Thurs. This is our new reality:

“Someone called 911 to report the shooting at 7:38 a.m., according to authorities. When deputies arrived two minutes later, they found six students with gunshot wounds in the quad…”

“The shooting is at least the seventh to take place on U.S. school grounds since the start of the academic year… More than 233,000 schoolchildren have been exposed to gun violence at their own schools since the shooting at Columbine High in 1999.” (Washington Post)

“When I was in the situation, I didn’t feel scared, and that’s the saddest part,” Carzola (student) said. “I felt like everyone was going to go through this at some point and this was my turn.” (Washington Post)

Call Congress and ask them how many more students have to die before they act.

Tell the Senate to pass  H.R.8, the Background Checks Act of 2019.  This bill has been in the Senate since the spring. In fact, the bill was not allowed to go up for a vote TODAY while the shooting was taking place.

Closing loopholes in background checks is a necessary first step we must take to protect Americans from the rampant gun violence devastating our country.
