Our democracy is on life support. If we don’t all VOTE, and democracy dies, it will be our fault!
The Republican Party is slowly destroying itself.

IMAGINE election day, November 5, 2024. Someone you knew was preparing to leave from work or school. It was an exceptionally long day. They were tired, hungry, and stressed over a project they knew was due in a few short days. They weighed their choices: #1) vote before the polls close at 7:00 pm or #2) grab a burger and relax at home. They chose #2. Then, imagine that person’s choice, together with similar decisions made by many other busy Americans, contributed to the election as president of malevolent narcissist Trump.
As long as we can protect our democratic right to vote, we will choose our leaders to create and vote on laws and other matters of government on our behalf. We can exercise our freedom of speech and let our voices be heard. In nations like Russia, China, Haiti, Syria, Cuba, Sudan, Venezuela, Iran, and 46 others, voting is prohibited. Those countries’ citizens have no voice. Dictators rule and are the sole decision-makers. Those citizens cannot choose who leads their country nor stop abuses of citizens by government representatives.
Dictator wannabe Trump has said that he would declare himself a dictator on day one if he were to win election in November.
According to the liberal Brennan Center for Justice in 2022, 19 MAGA-led states had passed 33 new laws to make it harder for “certain” citizens to vote. Texas removed ballot drop boxes from its most diverse counties. To discourage voting by people of color, Georgia made it illegal to provide water to voters waiting to vote in the hot sun.
What was once called the Republican Party is now the MAGA party. They obey Trump’s dictates, despite his being a disgraced, twice-impeached, quadruple-indicted, convicted sex offender, with 91 felony counts, running a campaign of hate, anger, revenge, racism, homophobia, seeking retribution, jail and even executions regarding those he perceives as enemies.
Many Americans do not pay close attention to Trump’s daily horror show. Thus, we need to repeatedly inform our friends, family, and all citizens how important it is to vote, up and down the ballot, for Democrats – currently the only major party that still believes in legislating, equity and sanity. If Democrats can flip the House, grow the Senate, and win the White House in 2024, Democrats can make our priorities law, including:
- codify Roe into federal law – decriminalize women in every state
- common sense gun reform – again!
- immigration reform – almost had it but Trump made a phone call and the GOP withdrew its support from the bipartisan bill
- citizenship for Dreamers
- decriminalize marijuana
- the George Floyd Police Reform Act
- the John Lewis Voting Rights Act
- give tax relief to the middle class
- additional climate action
- fund our government and avoid a shutdown, without preconditions, and more…
Preserving our freedoms requires that Democrats win on November 5.
