Enjoy Distill Social’s NEW Irreverent, Insightful Podcast, Point of Disorder
The hosts of Point of Disorder gleefully tear apart the fabric of far-right hypocrisy with the precision of a surgeon on a caffeine binge, dissecting everything from awkward cheerleader dances at Mar-a-Lago to Taylor Swift’s apparent terrorizing of MAGA supporters. Plus, they name their first ever “Loser of Lansing.” Between the snarky commentary on “family values” and the endless supply of political scandals, it’s a wonder anyone has time to actually govern. Listener discretion is advised.

Help us Register 442,000 Potential Voters
Join our friends at Distill Social, as we work with Field Team 6, Statewide Indivisible Michigan (SWIM), and others who share our values. We’re sending text messages from our computers to help register thousands of new voters. Field Team 6 has successfully registered 31% of the voters they’ve targeted in other states, and they’re providing us with lists, tools, and scripts to make the work easy.
The task is simple! All you will need is a little time, a computer, and the will to make a difference in Michigan in 2024! And don’t worry: we will train you and make sure you have everything you need to get to work—all from the comfort of your own home and on your schedule. Sign up here to receive an invitation to our first round of virtual trainings.
Here’s How We Can Save Our Democracy, Explains Longtime Activist Laura Nathan
The 2024 Election is nine months away. This election really is about saving our democracy. We all need to do our part to ensure that Joe Biden retakes the White House and that “up and down ballot,” Democrats throughout the country win BIG. I absolutely believe we have the power and ability to do this.
We know from public statements and actions that if elected, Trump intends to “rule” as a dictator. Just one example: he’s said on day one he will use (weaponize) the Justice Department to punish his enemies. Another Trump term could dismantle our government and be irreparably destructive to our nation and the entire world.
Biden can win, and Democrats all over the country can as well. In a perfect world, if all eligible adults were registered to vote and then actually did vote, there would be a BLUE tsunami. And yet, we know that approximately 50% of US citizens who are eligible to vote, DO NOT VOTE!
Each of us, doing even a small amount of Get Out The Vote (GOTV) work, can dramatically increase the number of registered voters and the number of votes cast. Here in Michigan, in the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton lost the state by approximately 10,000 votes. In Washtenaw County, approximately 60,000 Democrats DID NOT VOTE. Imagine if as few as 15,000 of those voters had been convinced by fellow Michiganders to cast their votes!
Here are a few actions to choose from; many are virtual, so work from your home or anywhere!
1. Donate strategically to Democratic candidates, campaigns, and organizations working to elect Dems.
2. Help flip the House.
- Postcards: Activate America
- Letters: Vote Forward
- Letters, phone banks, text banks, and other actions: SwingLeft.org
3. Register Democratic voters.
- Field Team 6 uses various methods including at-home options.
4. Learn effective messaging to use in person and on social media.
- Indivisible’s Truth Brigade
- Bridges for America
5. Explore other actions.
6. Join a group such as your local Indivisible chapter.
The above are just some options to help you get started. Thank you all for whatever you can do! Working together, we can win in 2024!

Supreme Court Lets Stand High School’s New Policy to Diversify Admissions
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court decided not to intervene in a case challenging an admissions policy designed to encourage diversity at an elite Virginia high school. In an effort to be race-neutral, the school no longer considers standardized test scores while guaranteeing admission for top students in a variety of middle schools. With this policy, the number of Asian American students decreased while the Black and Latino numbers increased. The suit was brought by the Coalition for TJ, claiming that these policies are “masquerading as efforts to promote diversity in admissions but actually practicing anti-Asian racism.” The Supreme Court turned away their challenge.
