Our panelists will share lived experiences and expert knowledge as attendees are guided to actively listen to dispel myths, embrace differences, and foster unity. We will address such questions as who gains power when hatred divides us and how can we encourage understanding by embracing our differences.

Aida Mackic (she/her) is a nationally recognized community organizer, political advocate. She currently serves as the Chief Program and Strategy Officer for Scale for Change. As a Hijabi Muslim woman, preserving individual freedom and choice for women in all aspects of their lives has continually been a core tenet of her personal identity and political ideology. Aida immigrated to the United States as a war refugee when she was eleven years old. Her background catalyzed her passion for grassroots activism and served as the impetus for becoming a leading voice and fearless advocate for women’s rights at large.
Cal Jackson is known in the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) community for his design, development, and delivery of engaging and thought-provoking cultural competence workshops. He is the CEO of the consulting firm Diversity Inclusion Ventures and founder of the Tampa Bay D&I Practitioners Cohort. He currently serves on the board of directors of Connecting Cultures for Peace and is the Vice Chair of the Florida Diversity Council Board of Directors. Previously he served on the board of directors for the Florida Holocaust Museum and is the past president of the Florida Diversity Council Tampa Bay Chapter.
Rabbi Michael Torop is retired and now the Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth-El, a diverse Reform congregation in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served for 20 years. His rabbinate has been focused on creating connected and inclusive communities of engagement and learning where Jewish life is explored intellectually & celebrated with joy and a sense of partnership with God. He serves on the Executive Committee of FAST- Faith & Action for Strength Together, an interfaith coalition working on local social justice issues, as well as the Boards of the Pinellas County Urban League and HCA Pasadena Hospital.

The last redistricting split Pinellas County down the middle along US 19 with the areas west of 34th Street in the new CD 13 and the areas east of 34th Street in CD 14 along with South Tampa. Indivisible FL-13 retains its original name but maintains the same turf, including the areas of CD 14 in Pinellas County.
