Walking and Talking For A New House Majority

The Invisible Yolo Walk Team has been busy the past weeks registering students at CalState Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College as well as canvassing for Adam Gray, and talking to Democrats in the lead up to the March 5th primary election day.

Despite the washout on Sunday, IY volunteers continue to be active in CA-13 voter registration and canvassing events alongside fellow activists in the Bay Area Coalition.  More canvassing events are planned for the rest of the month in Modesto, Merced and Lathrop along with virtual training workshops to get newcomers and seasoned canvassers alike up to speed.  For the latest details and to sign up, check out linktr.ee/voterregyolo.

Canvassing is the single most effective contact method, but for those of us with less available time, a great alternative — with less driving — are the Indivisible Yolo Thursdays for California Phone Banks, every Thursday 5-7 PM hosted by Rachel Beck and Emily Hill.  We will be calling voters in CA-13 just like our canvassers.

If Thursdays don’t work well for you, check out some other Central Valley phone banks hosted by BAC partners or stop in briefly during the Thursday time slot or email us to learn how to make calls on your own.

LWV Pros and Cons Discussion and “NO on Prop 1” Forum

The League of Women Voters Davis Area & LWV of Woodland is hosting a forum:

Vote with the League: No on Proposition 1 (March Ballot 2024) on February 7th, 6:00-7:30 pm at Davis Veterans Memorial Center Club Room, 14th St. in  Davis with guest speakers: Clare Cortright, Esq. Policy Director, CalVoices, “Consequences for Mental Health Client Supportive Care Services” and Stacie Hiramoto, MSW, Director, Racial and Ethnic Mental Health Disparities Coalition (REMHDCO).

It’s an important conversation as the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA) portion of Prop 1 diverts existing funds from mental health treatment programs to government-financed housing projects and, in doing so, it takes funds from the very county mental health treatment programs currently serving the homeless. Attend to learn more.

(This event is held by the League of Women Voters; Indivisible Yolo has not adopted an official position on Prop 1)
